NTA, this is crazy. My son's dad died when he was like 2 months away from being 2, he doesn't even really remember him. My now husband has never asked to adopt my son, and he doesn't call him dad. Even still my oldest always takes my husband side.

If you act like you got some sense you don't have to force a relationship.
