To serve as the gateway to the University of Maine research, education, and outreach resources, programs, and services, by acting as the front door for the university engagement in Portland and beyond, through comprehensively serving the education and business needs, preparing the knowledge-and-innovation workforce, and being a major contributor to societal advancement and economic development.

Aquaculture Research Institute (ARI)

The mission of the Aquaculture Research Institute is to serve Maine as an objective authority on aquaculture research with the goal of advancing a sustainable aquaculture future in Maine and beyond. UMaine and UMaine Machias have played key roles in supporting and developing the aquaculture industry for more than 50 years by investing in aquaculture programs and supporting partnerships across the state through education and workforce development; research and development; commercialization and incubation; and community and industry engagement.

Dorothy Klimis-Zacas

Dorothy Klimis-Zacas is a professor of clinical nutrition at the School of Food and Agriculture whose research focuses on berry bioactive compounds and their role on chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease and metabolic syndrome. Her recent work investigates the wound-healing power of phenolic extract from wild blueberries.

Nick Poulin

Nick Poulin is a marketing and new media double major, and will be a senior in the fall. Poulin works for ASAP on campus, a student-operated New Media research and production house, and is a marketing intern for both the Maine Business School and the United Way of Eastern Maine.
