‘Bullet Train’ Repeating on Top as August Box Office Slows Down

‘Bullet Train’ Repeating on Top as August Box Office Slows Down
Bullet Train” is maintaining the top slot at the box office this weekend, fending off newcomers “Fall” and “Mack and Rita,” as well as the expanding slasher-comedy “Bodies Bodies Bodies.”

Sony’s Brad Pitt action vehicle added 3.865 million on Friday. The film remains the widest release in the country with 4,357 locations. The studio is projecting a 13 million gross for the sophomore outing, which would mark a fairly solid 56 drop from its opening last weekend.

Bullet Train” is expected to expand its domestic cume to 54 million through Sunday. The adaptation of Kōtarō Isaka’s crime novel of the same name carries a 90 million production budget — hefty for a prospective blockbuster outside of a franchise. With an August slate that’s light on high-profile new releases, Sony is hoping for “Bullet Train” to leg it out and draw in a solid gross over the month.

From there, it becomes a much tighter race between steady holdovers.

Emma Thompson Disagrees with Sean Bean, Calls Intimacy Coordinators ‘Fantastically Important’

Emma Thompson Disagrees with Sean Bean, Calls Intimacy Coordinators ‘Fantastically Important’
Ever since SAG-AFTRA opened its membership to intimacy coordinators in July, the film industry has been ripe with discourse about what the position contributes to a film set. For the most part, actors have overwhelmingly praised intimacy coordinators for making sex scenes easier and safer to film. But “Game of Thrones” alum Sean Bean recently made waves when he slammed the idea of working with one, saying it would ruin the spontaneity that’s necessary for a good sex scene.

“I should imagine it slows down the thrust of it. Ha, not the thrust, that’s the wrong word. It would spoil the spontaneity,” Bean said. “I think the natural way lovers behave would be ruined by someone bringing it right down to a technical exercise.”

Emma Thompson disagrees.

The actress, who recently earned strong reviews for her sex-positive performance in Sophie Hyde’s film “Good Luck to You, Leo Grande,

Board up the haunted houses and keep your creepy woods: In the modern age, there’s simply no place more terrifying than the internet.

Found footage flicks are among some of the first scary internet movies to come to mind, with cheeky titles like “Unfriended,” “Followers,” and even “#Horror” bringing a knowing goofiness to the conceit of computer screen films. “Searching” and “Host” garnered newfound appreciation for the format, integrating smart authenticity into their design and direction. From Hacks to Seinfeld, the Best TV Shows About Stand-Up Comedy

From Hacks to Seinfeld, the Best TV Shows About Stand-Up Comedy
While it may seem simple to depict stand-up comedy on screen — simply point the camera at the subject telling jokes, and you’re home free — a truly satisfying series about the ins and outs of both live comedy performance and the life of a stand-up is a rare find. Often, the stand-up on screen must be genuinely funny (an audience of people laughing won’t save the scene from that), or, alternatively, both the jokes themselves and the camera must reflect where the character is at during that point in their lives or in their stand-up career. However, there are a few television series that do all of the above, and also manage to make us root for their protagonists the whole way through. From slapstick '90s sitcoms like Seinfeld to more recent, moodier dark comedies like Hacks, the following titles are exceptional in their depiction of stand-up comedy.

‘The Rings of Power’ Showrunners Explain Show’s Connection to Tolkien: ‘This Story Isn’t Ours’

‘The Rings of Power’ Showrunners Explain Show’s Connection to Tolkien: ‘This Story Isn’t Ours’
Few upcoming shows have higher expectations attached to them than “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.” Amazon’s upcoming fantasy epic isn’t just the most expensive television show ever produced, it’s also based on one of the most popular book series of all time. On top of that, Peter Jackson’s first trilogy of “Lord of the Rings” movies set the standard for fantasy filmmaking, so “The Rings of Power” will inevitably be compared to that as well.

That’s a lot of pressure for showrunners Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne. They’re dealing with the high expectations by placing all of their trust in J. R.R. Tolkien, focusing on making the show as true to the books as possible. When a reporter at the Television Critic Association’s press tour on Friday noted that the show was “vaguely connected” to Tolkien’s books, the

‘Rust’ Shooting Couldn’t Have Occurred ‘Without a Pull of the Trigger,’ FBI Concludes

‘Rust’ Shooting Couldn’t Have Occurred ‘Without a Pull of the Trigger,’ FBI Concludes
The Federal Bureau of Investigation has concluded that the firearm that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of “Rust” could not have fired “without a pull of the trigger while the working internal components were intact and functional.”

According to an FBI reported obtained by ABC News, the gun “could not be made to fire without a pull of the trigger.” Alec Baldwin, the star and producer of the Western, was holding the firearm at the time of the incident last October. Baldwin has stated that he was under the impression that he was holding a “cold gun” — one without live ammunition. The live round killed Hutchins and wounded director Joel Souza.

The FBI’s conclusion does not align with Baldwin’s previous statements regarding the tragedy. The actor has maintained that he believes that he did not pull the trigger on the gun prior to it firing.

“The trigger wasn’t pulled,

Before the ABC ran commercials for Q&a and Bananas in Pyjamas between shows, they ran meditative interludes – waves crashing against rocks, hot air balloons drifting through the clouds, that sort of thing. This is how the director of Oz: A Rock’n’Roll Road Movie, Chris Löfvén, got his start. At 14 years old, he darted around Melbourne with his 16mm camera, licked a stamp and posted the footage to the television station. They liked it and ran it.

Chris’s first job out of high school was working for director Fred Schepisi (who’d go on to make The Devil’s Playground and The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith
