Several MultiVersus players have started seeing Rick appear during the character select screen.

Last week at San Diego Comic-Con, Player First Games announced that Rick and Morty would be coming to the game during its first season, which is currently scheduled for August 9. Nothing from the two characters was shown off aside from their select screen art, but dataminers have long known about both characters being added to the game as their movesets have been in the code for some time.

Now it seems that some players are actually getting Rick to appear on their character select screen. Twitch streamer ConnorEatsPants was streaming MultiVersus when a random player joined a party with him. As Connor goes to change some settings, the other player hovers over Rick Sanchez, making him appear next to Connor's character on the select screen.

Connor notices Rick being there while the other player goes to select another character, with Connor asking them to go back to Rick, which they do. Connor then wonders aloud how they've managed to get Rick in their game. From this short look at Rick, we can see that his idle animation on the select screen is reaching into his pocket for his portal gun.

This isn't the only instance of this, either. Twitter user mirrorman shared footage of a stream where a random player auto joins their party after a match. After wondering how they've started a party without wanting too, the player shuffles through their character selection and once again has Rick appearing on the select screen.

The most obvious reasoning for this is that hackers have managed to add Rick to their game. When MultiVersus was still in its early access open beta period, we saw that one player managed to get his whole moveset and character added to the game, so it's likely that others have followed suit and hacked to get him. Another possibility is that he's randomly appearing as a tease, but that seems pretty unlikely.
