SUGA OVERLOAD
Hi Keith,
I have been wondering if the Sugababes will release “Overloaded: The Singles Collection” in the U.S. The album debuted at No. 3 in the U.K. and I’ve read rumors about a possible release date here as well. KOCH Distribution, U.S. the company responsible for shipping this compilation, has supposedly confirmed this and a release date has been set for Dec. 5.
Do you have any information regarding these claims? If this turns out to be true, the U.S. would finally see its first Sugababes album release.
Thanks,
Dylan Mitchell

Hi Dylan,
Firstly, it wouldn’t be the first album release from the Sugababes in the U.S. if it did happen. Second, “Overloaded” isn’t coming out in America — at least, not right now.
Koch Distribution is handling the imported Canadian release of “Overloaded.” They also issued the imported repackaging of “Taller In More Ways,” the trio’s last album, earlier this year. Neither album has been released in the U.S. properly. As far as I can tell, both albums’ Canadian releases were imported U.K. titles.
The Sugababes one and only domestic U.S. album release was its debut, “One Touch,” released on London Records in 2001. It has sold about 1,000 copies according to Nielsen SoundScan.
MAROON IN THE DARK
Keith,
I am a Maroon 5 fan and am eagerly awaiting its sophomore album. It has been said on various Web sites that the band will be releasing its still untitled sophomore album in late fall. (It was even featured in “Entertainment Weekly’s” top albums to look for in late 2006.)
Well it is late fall right now and I was wondering if you have any news regarding this album and it release date.
Thanks,
Jake Smith

Hello Jake,
According to the band’s MySpace journal, it seems that they are likely in the process of recording the material they finished writing earlier this year for the new album. The as yet untitled set doesn’t have an announced release date yet, but Billboard.com will keep you posted.
STALLED ‘JUMP’
Dear Keith,
Madonna’s latest single “Jump” seems to be skipping the American top 40. I remember an article in Billboard stating how the single was aiming at the AC/Adult Contemporary radio format, however hasn’t it stalled at No. 23.
Though, I know the release of the single to iTunes and retail stores prompted its No. 5 peak on the Hot 100 Bubbling Under chart. Is it still possible for it to enter The Billboard Hot 100?
Thank you,
Nathan Gil

Hi Nathan,
Of course it is still possible for “Jump” to reach The Billboard Hot 100. Is it likely? Not really. But hey, anything can happen.
“Jump” was an AC/Adult Contemporary hit. Of course, our definitions of “hit” might differ. It went to No. 23 on the AC chart (this week it’s No. 24) and almost reached the Hot AC chart. Warner Bros, Madonna’s record label, specifically promoted the single to AC and Hot AC stations. They wanted to establish the song as a hit at those formats before they attempted to bring it to top 40 radio. With the song having faded somewhat, I’d venture to guess that any promotion of the single to top 40 is quite unlikely.
Meanwhile, over on the Official U.K. Singles Chart, “Jump” recently became “Confessions On A Dance Floor’s” fourth top 10 single.
So far, “Confessions” has sold 1.6 million in the U.S. according to Nielsen SoundScan. The song “Jump,” in all of its assorted remixes and versions, has sold 31,000 digital downloads and another 8,000 singles.
