It was a big night for RuPaul’s Drag Race and Top Chef at the Critics Choice Real TV Awards on Sunday, June 12, as both shows walked away with three wins each, including a tie for Best Competition Series. The ceremony, which launched in 2019 and honors the best in nonfiction, unscripted, and reality television, was hosted by the Sklar Brothers at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles. The creators and executive producers of the beloved Fxx series “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” are taking their podcast to the live stage for the first time.

Glenn Howerton (Dennis), Charlie Day (Charlie) and Rob McElhenney (Mac) will bring “The Always Sunny Podcast” to the Bourbon and Beyond festival in Louisville, Ky., on Sept. 17, and then again the next night for a homecoming show of sorts at the Met in Philadelphia.

Packages of TV and digital rights for the Indian Premier League cricket tournament, one the world’s richest sporting events, have been sold for a combined 5 billion, according to several reports.

The successful bidders have not been named as the auction, which started on Sunday is ongoing and may run to a third day.

The TV rights went for 2.72 billion and the digital rights for 2.28 billion, for a five-year deal covering the 2023-2027 tournaments. In both cases the rights packages are limited to the Indian subcontinent.

SkyShowtime — the joint venture between Comcast and Paramount Global — has unveiled key hires for the European streaming service, including its head of programming.

BBC Select executive Jon Farrar has been named head of programming, Variety can reveal. The executive joins from BBC Studios, where he led the direct-to-consumer programming strategy in his dual role as global VOD director and editor-in-chief of North American SVOD service BBC Select.

Farrar was also part of the team that developed BritBox, the streaming joint venture between BBC Studios and ITV.

Nickelodeon is launching its Intergalactic Shorts Program 2.0 which opens its search for new and diverse creators from across the globe, Ramsey Naito, president of Nickelodeon Animation and Paramount Animation, announced Monday.

The Intergalactic Shorts Program 2.0 will focus on new voices and nurturing their vision for original comedy-drive content with an eye to representation, Naito added.

The 2.0 Program will be overseen by Nickelodeon executives Daniel Wineman and Chris Rose.

News of the new 2.0 Program comes as Nickelodeon gears up to bow “Rock, Paper, Scissors,” the first finalised short and series greenlit from the 2019 inaugural program.
