Paramount+ has released the opening credits for the highly anticipated Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds intro

Dropped on Twitter on April 29th, the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds intro features a nostalgic callback to Star Trek: The Original Series.

Like the opening credits for Star Trek: The Original Series, the intro for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds starts with the following voiceover narration: “Space, the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its five-year mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no one has gone before.” The only difference is that the updated version uses the phrase “no one” instead of the original’s “no man.”

The original narration was voiced by William Shatner’s James T. Kirk, while the new one was delivered by Anson Mount’s Christopher Pike. Mount shared the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds intro on Twitter and revealed what it meant to him to record the iconic narration.

“Perhaps the greatest honor of my career to date was getting to utter these words: ‘Space, the final frontier…’” Mount tweeted. “I could not be more proud to be a part of the @StarTrekOnPPlus team and I could not be more grateful to the Trek community. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU.”

In addition to the iconic narration, the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds intro also gives fans a closer look at the exterior of the USS Enterprise as it soars through space, past asteroid belts, and clouds of interstellar dust while searching for the titular strange new worlds.

Kirk, who will be played by Paul Wesley in the already confirmed season 2 off the series.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will also introduce all-new Enterprise crewmembers, such as Hemmer (Bruce Horak), La’an Noonein-Singh (Christina Chong), and Lt. Erica Ortegas (Melissa Navia)
