A Rosé That Defies the Season

The first rosé from Grgich Hills Estate in Napa Valley is also suitable for a Thanksgiving feast.

Let this wine chill a bit and you have a distinctive rosé for summer, the first from the Napa Valley estate of Grgich Hills. The winemaker, Ivo Jeramaz, was inspired by the Mediterranean, but what he achieved goes beyond the typical crisp blush of Provence. The wine is organic, mostly a Bordeaux blend with some touches of zinfandel and gewürztraminer. Set aside a few bottles of this garnet-pink wine for Thanksgiving dinner; its berry-rich aroma and cranberry tartness are tailor-made for the autumn feast: Grgich Hills Estate Rosé 2016, $25, grgich.com.
