DC's Legends Of Tomorrow Has Been Canceled At The CW

DC's Legends Of Tomorrow Has Been Canceled At The CW
Just hours after it was announced that "Batwoman" had been canceled at the CW, another DC Comics show has been given the axe. After seven seasons, "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" has been informed that they will not be seeing an eighth. Co-showrunner Keto Shimizu took to Twitter to express her feelings, saying, "We are heartbroken, but also immensely grateful for the amazing work our cast, crew, and writers have contributed to the little show that could." She continued her thread by expressing her appreciation for the show's rabid fanbase, leaving on a positive note by saying, "You'll always have a place on the Waverider."...

Space Force Has Been Canceled By Netflix

Space Force Has Been Canceled By Netflix
I shall gaze sadly at the moon tonight, because, according to THR, the Netflix series "Space Force" has been canceled after two seasons.

Look, I know it wasn't exactly "The Office," but I thought it was a whole lot of fun. If you haven't seen it, "Space Force" was the story of General Mark R. Naird (Steve Carell) and his crew. He was put in charge of the space program section of the government, but with little budget and a team that didn't really know what it was doing — and a family life that was a mess — Narid wasn't exactly thriving in his new gig.

The series also starred...

Emmy Predictions: Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series

Emmy Predictions: Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series
Last Year’s Winner: Hannah Waddingham, “Ted Lasso”

Still Eligible: Yes.

Hot Streak: “Schitt’s Creek” star Annie Murphy ended a run of actresses winning in this category in back-to-back two-year win streaks. Interestingly enough, while the “Ted Lasso” star certainly has a chance of bringing that back, two former winners from that run, Alex Borstein (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”) and Kate McKinnon (“Saturday Night Live”) are also both in contention this year.

Notable Ineligible Series: No.

This article will be updated throughout the season, along with all our predictions, so make sure to keep checking IndieWire for the latest news from the 2022 Emmys race. The nomination round of voting will take place from June 16 to June 27, with the official Emmy nominations to be announced on Tuesday, July 12. The Creative Arts Emmy Awards will be given out over two consecutive nights on Saturday, September 3 and Sunday, September 4, with an edited presentation

Emmy Predictions: Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series

Emmy Predictions: Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series
Last Year’s Winner: Brett Goldstein, “Ted Lasso”

Still Eligible: Yes.

Hot Streak: The last person to win Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy in back-to-back years was Jeremy Piven for “Entourage.” After that, there was a period where “Modern Family” stars Ty Burrell and Eric Stonestreet would swap wins. Given how “Ted Lasso” took up half the nominations in this category, with Brett Goldstein being the one to win, there’s a chance the hit Apple TV+ series could follow in the footsteps of “Modern Family,” and have a hot streak for the show rather than for just one cast member. Nick Mohammed and Brendan Hunt certainly had showcase episodes in Season 2.

Notable Ineligible Series: Paul Reiser, “The Kominsky Method” (ended); Sterling K. Brown, “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” (Brown did not appear in Season 4.)

This article will be updated throughout the season, along with all our predictions, so make

Jamie Bell Warns ‘Save Your Time’ and Don’t Watch ‘Fantastic Four’ Reboot: It Was ‘Famously a Disaster’

Jamie Bell Warns ‘Save Your Time’ and Don’t Watch ‘Fantastic Four’ Reboot: It Was ‘Famously a Disaster’
The 2015 “Fantastic Four” reboot was critically panned, bombed at the box office, and won three Razzie Awards, solidifying it as what some say is the worst superhero movie to date.

Miles Teller played Mr. Fantastic alongside onscreen wife Kate Mara as the Invisible Woman. Michael B. Jordan took over the Human Torch role from fellow MCU star Chris Evans’ original turn, and Jamie Bell played The Thing. And while the all-star cast are all critically acclaimed actors now, Bell warns against revisiting the “ill-fated” film with rose-tinted glasses.

Bell called “Fantastic Four” “famously a disaster” of a movie. The “Shining Girls” star told host Andy Cohen on his Sirius Xm show Radio Andy that the film most definitely does not deserve a second look seven years later.

“No, I don’t think so,” Bell said. “Save your money, save your time. I’m just trying to help your listeners here.

Metrograph Labor Issues Prompt Cancellation of Q&a; for Pro-Union Doc ‘The Wobblies’

Metrograph Labor Issues Prompt Cancellation of Q&a for Pro-Union Doc ‘The Wobblies’
New York’s Metrograph canceled a Friday night filmmaker Q&a that was to accompany the 1979 pro-labor documentary “The Wobblies,” recently restored and in re-release from Kino Lorber.

A source tells IndieWire that Metrograph management scrapped the Q&a out of concern that ongoing claims of labor issues at the lower Manhattan arthouse would overshadow the movie if the floor was opened up to the audience. The status of another Q&a for a Monday evening screening is yet to be determined, sources tell IndieWire.

Directors Stewart Bird and Deborah Shaffer shared a joint statement with IndieWire, saying, “We recently heard rumors of a conflict between the management of the Metrograph Theater and their staff. While we don’t know any details, we uphold the right of all workers to be guaranteed a safe working environment, fair wages, and to form a union to protect their common interests.”

The film tells the story

Steven Spielberg Made Indiana Jones A Tough Sell To Studios

Steven Spielberg Made Indiana Jones A Tough Sell To Studios
Back in 1981, "Raiders of the Lost Ark" changed everything. It introduced Indiana Jones, the quick-witted, whip-cracking archaeologist who believes everything belongs in a museum. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Before his first big adventure made its way to the big screen, Indiana Jones was just a concept — one the studios weren't convinced by.

We all know the story. "Raiders of the Lost Ark" stars Harrison Ford as our titular hero, an archaeology professor and adventurer who heads off in search of the lost Ark of the Covenant — that's right, the Ark of the Covenant that holds the original Ten Commandments. It's a...

Louise Archambault’s ‘Irena’s Vow,’ Starring Sophie Nélisse, Dougray Scott, Shoots in Poland – C&e Europe News in Brief
Louise Archambault’s World War II drama “Irena’s Vow,” starring Canada’s Sophie Nélisse, the U.K.’s Dougray Scott, and Poland’s Maciej Nawrocki and Andrzej Seweryn, is in production in Poland, and is set to premiere next year, according to Film New Europe.

The film tells the story of Polish nurse Irene Gut Opdyke (born Irena Gut), who in 1982 was awarded the Righteous Among the Nations medal for showing remarkable courage in her attempt to save Polish Jews during World War II. In 2009, her story hit Broadway as a play, written by Dan Gordon, who is also the film’s scriptwriter.

“About 25 years ago, I was driving to my home in Los Angeles and listening to the radio. I heard a woman, Irene Gut Opdyke, telling her story. When I got home, I sat in the car in the driveway for another hour and a half, because

The Breakfast Club Scene Molly Ringwald Wanted John Hughes To Cut

The Breakfast Club Scene Molly Ringwald Wanted John Hughes To Cut
John Hughes' 1985 teen drama "The Breakfast Club" was released in theaters to very positive critical response. Hughes' film was praised for its focus on conversation and character, as opposed to falling into the lazy screenwriting tropes connected to sex and violence. As time passed, "The Breakfast Club" only grew in estimation, eventually becoming a regular watch at suburban sleepover parties.

"The Breakfast Club" is about five teenagers who have been ordered to spend a Saturday at school as part of their detention. The five kids mostly don't know each other and all seem to come from a different "caste" within their school's social system....

Batwoman Canceled At The CW After Three Tumultuous Seasons

Batwoman Canceled At The CW After Three Tumultuous Seasons
After three seasons and 51 episodes, the CW has decided not to pursue a fourth season of the DC Comics series, "Batwoman." The announcement was confirmed today when showrunner Caroline Dries took to social media to express her sadness about saying farewell to Gotham. "Just got the sad news that 'Batwoman' will not be seeing a S4," she said. "I am bummed, but full of gratitude."

Season 3 of "Batwoman" came to a close last month, and the cancellation comes on the heels of the CW's owners, Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount Global, debating a sale of the station with Nexstar. Since the sale discussions...

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre's Opening Was A Pure Ridiculous Accident

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre's Opening Was A Pure Ridiculous Accident
One thing about the late, great Tobe Hooper: He left the ding-dang-diddly dog alone, whether it was intentional or not. Of all the things in "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre," the 1973 horror picture contains a lovely deception not unlike the shower scene in "Psycho," in that you think you saw more bloodshed than you really saw. One common horror trope that escapes the spinning Poulan 306A blades is that of the slaughtered domesticated pet.

There are plenty of memorable, notorious images from Hooper's influential take on the dysfunctional American family, mostly from its Large Adult Son Leatherface, who has sliced and diced his...

What Squid Game Fans Want Most From Season 2

What Squid Game Fans Want Most From Season 2
When "Squid Game" debuted its bloody and satirical takedown of capitalism in September 2021, it quickly became a global hit for Netflix. Within the first 28 days of Season 1's release, "Squid Game" garnered 1.65 billion views, or "182,000 years" worth of watches. Notably, "Squid Game" also became the first Netflix Original Korean television series to debut in the number one spot in the U.S. In the light of the series' staggering viewership numbers, no one was surprised when Netflix greenlit a second season of the survival thriller series. Netflix executive Ted Sarandos even hinted that Season 2 is just one step in a larger plan, telling Variety,...

Why Arrested Development Ended When It Did

Why Arrested Development Ended When It Did
"Say goodbye to these!" "Arrested Development" was canceled by Fox back in 2006, leaving its small but dedicated fanbase crushed. Now viewed as one of the defining sitcoms of the early aughts, its brilliant title refers to perhaps the most hilariously dysfunctional family on television, the Bluths, as they attempt to adjust to their new, significantly less wealthy circumstances. It always falls to Michael (Jason Bateman), the only Bluth who actually kind of has it together, to hold his family together.

The series ran for a mere three seasons beginning in 2003, with each season having fewer episodes than the one preceding it. For those watching at the time,...

Taika Waititi Felt Understandably Awkward While Directing Jojo Rabbit In Costume

Taika Waititi Felt Understandably Awkward While Directing Jojo Rabbit In Costume
Directing a film is a hard job to begin with, and adding in playing a role while directing makes it that much more difficult. Layer in acting in a scene with a child, and asking him to switch back and forth between taking direction and acting with you, and it's a Herculean task. What if, on top of all that, you're playing the role of Hitler?

Taika Waititi took all this on while acting in, and directing, from a script he adapted, the 2019 film "Jojo Rabbit," the story of Johannes "Jojo" Betzler (Roman Griffin Davis), a young German boy who is a member of the Deutsches Jungvolk,...

M. Night Shyamalan Paid Homage To A Forgotten Marlon Brando And Jack Nicholson Western

M. Night Shyamalan Paid Homage To A Forgotten Marlon Brando And Jack Nicholson Western
A beach that makes you old sounds right in the wheelhouse of M. Night Shyamalan, the filmmaker who gave us aliens that emit poison gas from their wrists in "Signs" and airborne plant toxins that make you kill yourself in "The Happening." And a beach that makes you old is the premise at the heart of Shyamalan's movie "Old," itself loosely based on the French comic book "Sandcastle" written by Pierre Oscar Levy and illustrated by Frederik Peeters.

Where the beach was little more than a magical realist conceit that Levy and Peeters employed to explore mortality and existence in "Sandcastle," Shyamalan...

Gary Oldman Is Talking About Retirement, And We're Not Ready

Gary Oldman Is Talking About Retirement, And We're Not Ready
Gary Oldman is one of the best actors out there. The Academy Award-winning actor has graced us with his work in films and TV series like "The Dark Knight," "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy," "The Darkest Hour," "Mank," "Bram Stoker's Dracula," and now the Apple TV+ series "Slow Horses." In the series, he plays Jackson Lamb, an older spy who isn't exactly happy about where he is in his career. He is the head of Slough House, the MI5 department that is sort of a holding house for spies who aren't so great at their jobs. You know, the ones who haven't don't well in their careers,...

Michael Douglas Says Debra Winger Bit Him, So He Refused to Work With Her: ‘She Broke the Skin’

Michael Douglas Says Debra Winger Bit Him, So He Refused to Work With Her: ‘She Broke the Skin’
Michael Douglas said on a recent episode of Rob Lowe’s “Literally!” podcast that he refused to work with Debra Winger in “Romancing the Stone” after a meeting between them ended with Winger allegedly biting Douglas. Winger was the studio’s top choice to star in the film as Joan Wilder, a romance novelist who falls in love with a bird hunter (Douglas) while on an adventure in the Colombian jungle. Kathleen Turner ultimately landed the role in the Robert Zemeckis’ romance film.

Zemeckis and Douglas reportedly met with Winger in Texas while she was in the middle of shooting “Terms of Endearment.”

“She comes out for us to have a dinner one night and we all have dinner together and we are talking and knocking back some tequilas and this and that,” Douglas said. “We walk out and, just as you would kind of go, ‘Oh you!’ and give
