En el marco de la microtextualidad literaria, los estudios se han centrado, principalmente, en tres factores: el debate terminológico, la extensión y su identificación genérica. La crítica oscila entre una consideración fundamentalmente narrativa y otra abierta a fenómenos intermediales/de hibridación. En esta investigación, tomamos como referencia la idea del “desgenerado” de Violeta Rojo para plantear nuevas indagaciones, abiertas y flexibles, sobre las “formas breves”. Asimismo, proponemos un recorrido por algunas de las visiones sobre estos géneros en el ámbito hispánico. Finalmente, ofrecemos un resumen de las diferentes contribuciones que componen este monográfico.

This article investigates television-advertising production in the context of the systemic think-ing. Advertising rhetoric is based on shared codes that are used by particular professional net-works of the «urban elites». New technologies, new cinematographic techniques, latest fads, reformed postmodern arguments, etc are developed by «lead users » and subsequently are passed along those networks. In this respect, particular innovative practices can gradually become a part of the «advertising creativity networks » knowledge capital. My paper is based on current theoret-ical and research trends of diverse disciplines such as sociology, business administration, systemic theory and mass media studies. My objective is to affirm that studies on advertising practice, social representations and cultural production can be redefined in an interdisciplinary sphere by the systemic theory and the social networks theory support.

Research on the wisdom of crowds (WOC) identifies two paradoxical effects of communication. The social influence effect hampers the WOC, whereas the collective learning effect improves crowd wisdom. Yet it remains unclear under what conditions such communication impedes or enhances collective wisdom. The current study examined two features characterizing communication in online communities, communication network centralization and shared task experience, and their effect on the WOC. Both these features can serve as indicators of the likelihood that underlying communication may facilitate either social influence or collective learning. With an 8-year longitudinal behavioral-trace data set of 269,871 participants and 1,971 crowds, we showed that communication network centralization negatively affected the WOC. The advancements in information and communication technologies in the past few decades, as represented by ubiquitous computing, social media, and artificial intelligence, have made it possible for people to connect with each other and with technologies anytime and everywhere. These developments challenge the traditional distinctions between online and offline groups, raise questions about the relations between people and technology, and provide opportunities to study emergent dynamics of social interaction in groups. Building on the multidimensional network perspective, this chapter conceptualizes online groups as multidimensional networks (a) composed of both human members and non-human artifacts and agents; (b) characterized by multiplex relationships among their components; and (c) embedded in social environments. Using Christopher Walker’s and Jessica Ludwig’s ‘sharp power’ theoretical framework, and based on some preliminary findings from the May 2019 European Parliament election and the two 2019 rounds of elections in Israel, this article describes a novel method for the automatic detection of political trolls and bots active in Twitter in the October 2019 federal election in Canada. The research identified thousands of accounts invested in Canadian politics that presented a unique activity pattern, significantly different from accounts in a control group. The large-scale cross-cross-sectional approach enabled a distinctive perspective on foreign political meddling in Twitter during the recent federal election campaign. Thisforeign political meddling, we argue, aims at manipulating and poisoning the democratic process and can challenge democracies and their values, as well as their societal resilience.

The Internet has become an integral part of the practice of rehabilitation counseling. To identify potential ethical issues regarding the use of the Internet by counselors, two studies were conducted. In Study 1, we surveyed a national sample of rehabilitation counselors regarding their use of technology in their work and home settings. Results suggested that all counselors use email and find information on the Internet, and some also use the Internet to socialize. Some online activities in which counselors engage raise ethical concerns. Study 2 was a content analysis of ethical codes of three national counseling associations and three states that license rehabilitation counselors for the amount of guidance these codes provide regarding Internet activities. Results indicated that although the ethical use of technology has been identified in the codes, there are still areas in which the guidance is only indirect at best.

Is the sense of community necessarily something that immigrants yearn? Do migrants necessarily want to settle down or maintain connections to their former homes, or are there other ways of living? This dissertation is an ethnographic account of the Chinese in Ghana that looks closely at their lives to understand the nature of community and stability. For various historical and personal reasons, the Chinese in Ghana are an invisible population without a sense of residential and cultural community. Despite many Chinese having lived in Ghana for decades, the desire to settle down is not strong, and at the same time, they do not necessarily want to go elsewhere.Based upon two years of ethnographic fieldwork primarily in the cities of Accra and Tema, I explore how the Chinese in Ghana live and engage with their liminal status in unexpected ways.
