Storyline

A two-hour documentary focusing on the future of our world's environment. The film tells the personal stories of ordinary people doing extraordinary things to bring the demands of progress and population growth into balance with nature. With original music, breathtaking cinematography and state-of-the-art computer graphics, five of the world's most magnificent rivers - the Ganges, Amazon, Mississippi, Nile and Zambezi - provide a stunning metaphor for our planet's interconnectedness. This inspiring film, hosted by Cicely Tyson, was a co-production with the United Nations Population Fund and aired in over 100 countries to an estimated audience of over 2 billion people. Written by Barbara Pyle
