Located next to the main campus, Queen's Sport provides students with the opportunity to continue or start being active. Our world class indoor and outdoor facilities are ideal for recreational, competitive or high-performance athletes.
The Physical Education Centre (PEC) is the hub of sport at Queen’s.
Our facilities include, a state of the art fitness area with over 200 pieces of CV and resistance equipment, a functional training and weights area with six power cages and Olympic lifting platforms, four studios, 25m swimming and diving pool, two multi-purpose sports halls, martial arts area, 2 climbing walls, 8 squash courts, 2 handball courts, 4 exercise and dance studios, and outdoor 3G grass pitches.

These awards are designed to give top sporting individuals the best opportunity to develop their talent during their time at the University.
They are available to current students who have achieved a high standard in their particular sport. The scheme offers recipients a comprehensive package including sports science support, free use of facilities, free equipment and financial assistance for the costs of training at such a high level.

Queen’s is working with student clubs, governing bodies and alumni networks to develop sporting academies. Currently there are five academies – Rugby, GAA, Soccer, Rowing and Hockey – with over 35 teams and 600 students competing each year.

Champions have been made, trophies won and accolades heaped onto thousands of students throughout Upper Malone’s existence.
We have heavily invested in our outdoor facilities, and the new Arena Pitches and Clubhouse is the only facility in the UK and Ireland to showcase rugby, Gaelic games, hockey and soccer all at one site, with an additional 16 floodlit grass and synthetic playing surfaces.

The Queen’s Boat House is home to the Men's and Ladies' Boat Clubs, who have an excellent pedigree through performances at Senior and Novice levels throughout Ireland and beyond
In 2015 the Boat House benefited from an extensive upgrade including new shower areas, crew meeting rooms, a new boat launch pontoon and a motor boat launching slip.

The Cottage features space for 24, kitchen, living area, showers and toilets, providing the perfect setting for residential, team-building sessions or outdoor activity trips

We have also recently launched an Active Campus initiative with sporting activities and programmes to suit everyone – no matter what your fitness level.
Outdoors and SportsBelfast offers a wealth of choice for sports fans and spectators, whether you fancy a night at the rugby, a Belfast Giants ice hockey game, a soccer match or a fastpaced Gaelic football or hurling match.
The Belfast City Marathon attracts 20,000 participants from around the world every year.
Queen's has conferred honorary degrees on many of the UK and Ireland's most successful athletes.
