Pierce Brosnan Says Being James Bond Is The Gift That Keeps Giving

Pierce Brosnan Says Being James Bond Is The Gift That Keeps Giving
Before Daniel Craig picked up the Walther-ppk in 2006’s Casino Royale, Pierce Brosnan was the incumbent James Bond. Even though it’s now 18 years since he last played the part in 2002’s Die Another Day, the Irish actor remains closely connected to the super-spy in the eyes of fans. Many stars who are known for one role above others sometimes struggle with that, but it sounds like Brosnan is more than happy to be 007 forever.

While speaking with The Guardian to discuss his part in Netflix’s new comedy movie Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga, Brosnan – who starred in four Bond films, beginning with 1995’s GoldenEye – called his association with the character “the gift that keeps giving” and believes it’s responsible for his “wonderful career.”

“Bond is the gift that keeps giving and has allowed me to have a wonderful career. Once you’re branded as a Bond,

Brosnan Close to Playing Bond in "Casino Royale"

Brosnan Close to Playing Bond in
While it may now seem natural to see actor Daniel Craig play author Ian Fleming's 'James Bond' in the action feature "Casino Royale", it could have been an entirely different scenario, with actor Pierce Brosnan nearly returning to play the Brit secret agent again:

Although Brosnan, the former "Remington Steele" TV actor impressed in his debut 'Bond' outing "Goldeneye", there are mixed memories to Brosnan's overall stint as '007', with "Die Another Day", critically considered one of the worst 'Bond' movies in the franchise.

In fact, the critical reaction given to "Die Another Day" was so negative that it resulted in the franchise going back to the drawing board, with dog-faced Craig ("The Road To Perdition") cast as '007' to give the character a fresh start as a raw and grittier 'Bond'.

Now, with Craig as the current face of the franchise, 'James Bond' has reached even greater heights,

Pierce Brosnan & James Bond — An On And Off And On Again Relationship

‘Whiskey Cavalier’ Review: This Eighties Throwback Lets You See It Sweat
If you’re the kind of person who still pays close attention to what the traditional broadcast networks are doing, you may have noticed that this has been the most uninspiring season for the Big Four in a very long time. Even with the very recent success of This Is Us on NBC, it feels like the networks have completely given up on the idea of competing with cable and streaming when it comes to drama. They know audiences aren’t expecting complexity from them, so they’ve stopped trying to offer it.

TV Critics Spar With ‘Whiskey Cavalier’ Creators And Cast Over Geography And Flirtation Boundaries – TCA

David Hemingson came up with idea for ABC’s new Whiskey Cavalier when an FBI pal of his called him at 2 Am after breaking up with his girlfriend. Though he was a “gun out first through the door” kinds of guy” at the end of the day he wanted love and connection like everyone else, Hemingson said.

“You want to play that game with me?! I’m from France” the critic shot back, winning that round.

Former USC and National Football League star Tim Rossovich, who built a post-athletic acting career in various roles, has died after a long illness, according to USC News. He was 72 and passed Thursday in Sacramento.

Rossovich was an All-American and co-captain of the USC national championship team in 1967, remembered for star O.J. Simpson at running back. He became one of five USC players drafted in the first round in 1968, going to the Philadelphia Eagles as the 14th pick of the first round.

The lean defensive end made the Pro Bowl in 1969 during a career that saw him play for the Philadelphia Eagles, San Diego Chargers, and Houston Oilers. He later played for the Philadelphia Bell in the short-lived World Football League.

Scott Foley On A ‘Felicity’ Reunion: “Don’t Reboot It” – Atx
Scott Foley is not interested in joining the recent trend of revivals when it comes to Felicity. “Don’t reboot it,” as he plainly put. Despite being a fan of reboots like Gilmore Girls and Roseanne “before it imploded” he doesn’t see a Felicity reunion playing out so easily. “It was so specific to a generation. They can’t do it with us now. It wouldn’t work. We’re all too old. Felicity was about that magical time of your life when you’re transitioning into adulthood and finding your way.”

Foley is pulling a double duty at Austin’s Atx Television Festival starting off with tonight’s screening of the first episode from his new ABC series, Whiskey Cavalier, before reuniting with his former cast members for the Felicity 20 year reunion tomorrow.

In Whiskey Cavalier, Foley stars as tough but tender FBI super-agent Will Chase (codename: “Whiskey Cavalier”) who,

Brad Kern Steps Down As ‘NCIS: New Orleans’ Showrunner After Misconduct Investigations; Chris Silber Replaces Him

Brad Kern is exiting his role as executive producer/showrunner of NCIS: New Orleans. He will serve as consultant on the series going forward. NCIS: New Orleans executive producer Chris Silber has been named new showrunner.

The move comes months after word surfaced in December that Kern had been the subject of two Human Resources investigations by CBS TV Studios while working on the studio’s popular CBS crime procedural. Both reportedly were triggered by complaints from co-workers about a hostile work environment on the show.

Following the second investigation, Kern was reportedly assigned to and underwent six months of sensitivity training/counseling, which he completed in February 2017. There have been no new official complaints filed against him since.

“We were aware of these allegations when they took place in 2016, and took them very seriously,” CBS TV Studios said in a statement at the time. “Both complaints were acted upon

The Best Child Performances in Movie History — IndieWire Critics Survey

The Best Child Performances in Movie History — IndieWire Critics Survey
Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of film critics two questions and publishes the results on Monday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best film in theaters right now?”, can be found at the end of this post.)

This week’s question: In honor of “The Florida Project,” which has just started its platform release across the country, what is the greatest child performance in a film?

Jordan Hoffman (@JHoffman), The Guardian, Vanity Fair

I can agonize over this question or I can go at this Malcolm Gladwell “Blink”-style. My answer is Tatum O’Neal in “Paper Moon.” She’s just so funny and tough, which of course makes the performance all the more heartbreaking. She won the freaking Oscar at age 10 for this and I’d really love to give a more deep cut response, but why screw around? Paper Moon is a perfect film and she is the lynchpin.

10 Things You Should Know About Cable to Make You Psyched He's in Deadpool 2
Josh Brolin has come a long way from The Goonies, Thrashin' and the bad guy of the week opposite Johnny Depp in a killer episode of 21 Jump Street. And right after he's finished throwing a moon at Earth's Mightiest Heroes in Avengers Infinity War, Brolin will step away from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to mix it up with Fox's world of merry mutants in Deadpool 2. Hollywood rights issues are keeping X-Men related characters from interacting with the rest of the Marvel Universe onscreen, but that can't stop our favorite actors from crossing over as different characters.

Ryan Reynolds started teasing the cinematic debut of Cable in the post-credits scene attached to Deadpool, the years in development surprise box office smash that took meta-humor and R-Rated anti-hero action comedy violence to previously uncharted heights. Remember that Ferris Bueller inspired bathrobe riffing in that post credits scene? Plenty of audiences actually
