Honda Odyssey Generations
Fifth Generation
2018 to PresentThe fifth-generation Odyssey was introduced for the 2018 model year and brought many updates, including a nine- or ten-speed automatic transmission mated to the same engine, but upgraded to 280 horsepower. For 2021, the Odyssey received a mild styling update and some additional new technology, including an expanded array of standard active-safety features.
Fourth Generation
2011 to 2017A fourth-generation redesign of the Odyssey featured a wider appearance and more power. For 2014, all models of the Odyssey came standard with a six-speed automatic transmission. In addition, an innovative built-in vacuum cleaner (unique at the time but now widely copied) was introduced in the Touring Elite trim.
Third Generation
2005 to 2010The Odyssey underwent another major design change for the 2005 model year and presented the introduction of variable cylinder management on its higher trim levels for improved fuel economy.
Second Generation
2000 to 2004The second-generation Odyssey debuted with a massive revamp that added 13.6 inches to its overall length and dual sliding doors. The four-cylinder engine was jettisoned in favor of a 3.5-liter V6 powerplant. The interior of the new-generation Odyssey minivan featured several clever storage solutions and navigation, a futuristic technology for the time.
First Generation
1995 to 1999Debuting in 1995, the Honda Odyssey satisfied the minivan-craving families of the 1990s. Unlike the other leading minivans from Chrysler and Ford, the Odyssey’s rear passenger entry was achieved with hinged doors rather than a sliding door. The 1998 model year Odyssey was powered by a 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine that generated 150 horsepower.
