We welcome visitors by foot and bicycle. If you arrive by bike, please let a museum representative know and we will help you find a place to secure it.
Bus
Baltimore City bus routes service the museum’s Charles Street location, including the Route 51 Bus (“Towson-Downtown”) and Route 28 Bus (“Moravia-Rogers Ave Metro”). Routes and stops change frequently, so please consult the MTA’s website here.
Collegetown Shuttle
For students, faculty, and staff of the Johns Hopkins University, Notre Dame of Maryland University, and Towson University, the free Baltimore Collegetown Shuttle operates during the spring and fall semesters. The stop for Notre Dame University Maryland at Charles Street and Homeland Avenue (stop 411) is walking distance to Evergreen Museum & Library.
Parking
There is ample free parking at Evergreen Museum & Library. Drive through the front gate and veer to the left at the fork in the road. At the top of the hill, there is regular parking to the right of the mansion. Please use head-in parking, not parallel parking. Handicapped parking is available to the left of the front of the mansion.

What procedures are in place to minimize the spread of illness?
Evergreen Museum & Library adheres to all Johns Hopkins University COVID-19 policies. When inside the museum, all visitors are REQUIRED to wear an N95 mask, a KN95 mask, or a combination of a cloth mask with a surgical mask. Visitors outside do not have to wear a mask.

What is the tour like? What will I see?
On a docent-led tour of Evergreen, you will see 15 rooms of the Gilded Age mansion, plus many objects in its vast collection, including the 30,000-volume John Work Garrett Library, Tiffany glass, Asian ceramics, and artwork by artists such as Picasso, Modigliani, Raoul Dufy, Zelda Fitzgerald, Diego Rivera, David Driskell, and more.

The tour takes approximately 1 hour to complete.

What happens if I can’t make my reservation?
If you are running late or must cancel your reservation, contact Museum Coordinator, Jeannette Marxen at jmarxen1@jhu.edu. Refunds will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Is the museum accessible to people with limited mobility?
Due to the historical nature of the building, only parts of the museum are fully accessible. The regular tour requires climbing stairs and being able to stand for the duration of the tour. The North Wing Gallery and Gift Shop, however, are fully accessible to all. To request special accommodations, contact Museum Coordinator Jeannette Marxen at jmarxen1@jhu.edu.

Can I explore the grounds?
Evergreen sits on approximately 26 acres of land. Included with admission to the museum is a self-guided garden tour, which allows visitors to explore parts of the grounds and learn how the natural and built landscape have changed over time.

No, visitors to Evergreen must purchase admission to the museum.

Is the garden accessible to those with limited mobility?
Due to the terraced nature of the landscape, there is limited accessibility to the gardens.

Can I take photographs at Evergreen?
Yes, you are welcome to take photographs/video in designated areas at Evergreen provided that it is not for commercial use or disruptive. Please consult our Photography Policy for further information.

What facilities are available on-site for visitors?
Lockers, bathrooms, and a water fountain are available onsite. Neither food concessions nor an ATM is available.

Can I bring my pet?
With the exception of service animals, pets are not permitted.

Are strollers allowed?
Strollers are welcome but will need to be left at the Gift Shop if you are taking a docent-led tour.

Do you offer group tours?

Yes, Evergreen’s Gift Shop is open Tuesday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and offers a variety of attractive items for sale, including stationery, books, toys and games, housewares, jewelry, and accessories. Proceeds from the Gift Shop support museum operations and initiatives. Your patronage is appreciated.
