Emmerdale delved into its past on Tuesday night (December 20) by airing scenes which were filmed at its old home.
The ITV soap's outdoor scenes were shot in the real-life village of Esholt until 1996, when the show moved to a purpose-built location on the Harewood estate near Leeds.
But in a clever nod to the past, Emmerdale returned to its former location for Ashley Thomas's special episode, which explored the world through his eyes as he continues to live with dementia.
When Ashley went walkabout from the hospital in a highly confused state, Aaron Dingle found him and tried to bring him back home.
As Ashley didn't recognise Aaron as his neighbour, show bosses temporarily recast Danny Miller's popular character to illustrate his confusion, with Bryan Parry taking on the role instead.
But it wasn't just Aaron and some other familiar faces who were different - even the Emmerdale village itself had changed.
As the old Esholt location looks slightly different to the current set, this was another effective technique which was deliberately used to create a disorientating feel for Ashley in the episode.
This version of The Woolpack, as seen in the episode, is still open today as a real-life pub.
If Esholt suddenly gets an influx of newer fans visiting, we'll know why...
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
