This award is intended to provide financial support to high school seniors who are residents of Delaware County or Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, and who attend a public school, and who lost a parent. Eligible applicants are biological children, adopted children, and stepchildren. In order to apply, students must have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or above in high school, have a financial need, and intend to pursue a 4-year degree at a college or university.NOTE: This award is available to students every four years, starting in 2019. The next award cycle will be available in 2023.

The legal child (natural or adoptive) of a veteran of any branch of U.S. military service (U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard) who is either a: High school senior with a cumulative GPA of 3.0.or Student currently attending or enrolled in an accredited community college or undergraduate degree program with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.

The $20,000 grant supports “exceptional individuals working in the area of serious mental illness,” including but not limited to schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and paranoia (delusional disorder). The American Psychological Foundation provides financial support for innovative research and programs that enhance the power of psychology to elevate the human condition and advance human potential both now and in generations to come. The APF Alexander Gralnick Research Investigator Prize recognizes “exceptional individuals working in the area of serious mental illness,” including but not limited to schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and paranoia (delusional disorder). The prize was established to honor the late Alexander Gralnick, MD, and to reflect the breadth of his accomplishments and contributions in the field of serious mental illness. Dr. Gralnick was a Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, and he received the American Psychiatric Association’s Distinguished Service Award and the Service to the Mentally Ill Award of the World Association for Psychosocial Rehabilitation. The prize aims to carry on Dr. Gralnick’s legacy by facilitating research by doctoral-level investigators in the area of serious mental illness. Goals: To encourage psychologists to assume a leadership role for psychology in the area of serious mental illness.To encourage the training of future psychologists to become leaders in this field.Advance understanding and treatment for those affected by such illnesses.

Description

The scholarship provides recognition and financial assistance of $1,000 each year to a student in any major who is enrolled full-time at Augustana College and who declares Judaism as his/her religion and/or family background. The scholarship is based on academic merit (not need) and the recommendation of the faculty members of the center.

Graduate student enrolled in the Master of Education in Educational Leadership. Completed a minimum of 24 credit hours in the program. Minimum 3.3 GPA in the program.

Undergraduate accounting or finance major with major standing or a Master of Accounting (MAcc) student. Be a declared accounting or finance major and have achieved major standing. Has exhibited a combination of outstanding academic performance and demonstrated financial need. Currently enrolled in at least one Accounting or Finance major course at OU.

Recipient must be Oakland University graduate student enrolled in the MPA program, in good standing. Recipient must have at least a 3.0 G.P.A. or higher. Recipient must complete an application including an essay (500-word max). The essay should highlight the student’s desired outcomes and goals upon completing the MPA program.

Undergraduate students enrolled in the Basic BSN, ASD or RN/BSN Program or Masters of Science in Nursing. Minimum GPA 3.0. Brief statement required (500 max) explaining how they are interested in complimentary integrative holistic care.

Undergraduate or graduate student enrolled full time in the School of Engineering and Computer Science. Minimum 3.2 cumulative GPA. Intends to major in engineering. Demonstrate professionalism and the ability to collaborate with others. Consideration given to student's activities and interests, particularly those related to Asian culture, that demonstrate a potential to contribute to the quality of academic and student life at Oakland.

Must be enrolled in the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering, with preference given to female students although gender of the applicant shall not be the controlling factor in awarding the scholarship.
