ViacomCBS And Comcast Renew And Expand Carriage Deal, Adding BET+ To Streaming Roster On Xfinity
ViacomCBS and Comcast have reached a distribution renewal that continues carriage of CBS and a roster of cable networks on the No. 1 cable system in the U.S. while also deepening the companies’ streaming ties.

The agreement follows a similarly comprehensive one reached earlier this week between Comcast and WarnerMedia. Comcast also closed a key agreement with Disney in late-2021. While cord-cutting is continuing to erode pay-tv revenue.

The multi-year ViacomCBS deal includes carriage for ViacomCBS networks like CBS, BET, CBS Sports Network, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, Pop TV, Smithsonian Channel and Showtime. It also extends the availability of streaming services Paramount+, Pluto TV and Showtime Ott on Xfinity, as well as adding BET+ to the fold.

‘Life Goes On’ Sequel Series From Nkechi Okoro Carroll With Kellie Martin Starring Lands Put Pilot Order at NBC
NBC has given a put pilot order to a followup to the early ’90s drama series “Life Goes On,” with original series star Kellie Martin set to return.

The new iteration of the show was first announced as being in the works back in September as part of Nkechi Okoro Carroll’s new overall deal with Warner Bros. Television.

Okoro Carroll will write and executive produce the show under her Rock My Soul Productions banner. Lindsay Dunn of Rock My Soul will also executive produce, while Martin and Chad Lowe will produce. Michael Braverman serves as executive consultant. Lowe appeared

The family western drama is nominated in the top category of ensemble in a television drama alongside “Succession,” “Squid Game,” “The Morning Show” and “The Handmaid’s Tale.” The nomination is the first major awards recognition for “Yellowstone,” which up until now only boasted one Creative Arts Emmys nomination for production design for a narrative contemporary program (one hour or more). “Yellowstone” was also nominated at the American Society of Cinematography awards in 2019 for cinematography in a regular series for commercial television.

“With an incredible pedigree of talent and musical performances, the powerfully compelling drama, Monarch, is a top priority for Fox Entertainment in 2022,” a Fox Entertainment spokesperson says. “Unfortunately, due to the unavoidable realities of the pandemic and the profound impact Covid-19 continues to have on our industry and around the world, it is necessary to reschedule Monarch‘s January 30 debut to the Fall.”
