I loved the book Eat Pray Love. It was an exceptional book. And, I like Julia Roberts. So, you would think I would love the movie. But, I felt the movie went way to much for cutesy feel good romance kind of story, instead of the richer story of the book. In the book, you really feel a sense of Elizabeth Gilbert’s commitment to searching for spiritiuality, and you learn much more about some of the amazing people she encountered during her journey. The book was also filled with delightfully humorous comments about people and her own shortcomings. Granted, this is hard to capture in a movie. I get that. But, it felt like they were following some typical Hollywood formula of what a Hollywood movie should be, the same exact formula we have all seen over and over again. In the book, you met a broader cast of characters, one really significant woman in Bali , who greatly influenced her Elizabeth Gilbert’s life.
