2018 FIFA FOOTBALL WORLD CUP

The 21st edition of FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia saw the conclusion of knockout rounds with several unexpected results. Germany, who were the defending champions, were eliminated from the 2018 World Cup at the group stage after they lost 2-0 to South Korea. Despite a nervy start to the 2018 FIFA World Cup, Portugal, Spain and Brazil manged to sneak into the knockout stages. Now, with the start of the knockout rounds, several teams are touted to be the favourites to lift the 2018 World Cup trophy. 16 teams will enter into the next round, out of which eight will make it to the quarterfinals of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Every match from here on will be a knockout and the team losing the match will be straightaway eliminated. If a match goes to a draw in regulation time, 30 minutes of added time will be given, divided into two halves of 15 minutes each. If the winner still remains undecided after extra time, the match will go into the penalty shootouts. Four teams will make it to the semifinal stages of the FIFA World Cup 2018, out of which two will make it to the final, which will be played on July 15, 2018.
