Meta Freese Knoch

Knoch, Meta Freese Age 102, Bloomington, MN. Meta passed away at home November 26, 2021. Due to dementia, she was in home hospice for about a year. She was born in rural Clara City to Ralph and Gretel (Cuhlers) Freese on February 5, 1919. After high school Meta moved to Minneapolis to enjoy urban life. In 1957 she married Nathan Knoch. Meta operated a gauging machine during WWII at the Twin Cities Ordnance Plant (New Brighton). Later in life, Meta lamented the lives affected by the 50 cal. shells she helped make. She also worked at NSP (Xcel Energy) and retired from Donaldson Company in 1981 when her job (order editor) was replaced by a computer and 3 data entry operators. In retirement Meta volunteered tirelessly at Christ The King Lutheran Church (wedding circle), Ebenezer Society, and would drop everything to help with her grandchildren. Meta is preceded in death by her spouse, parents, and four siblings. She's survived by her son Brian and grandchildren: Megan (Travis), Lisa, and Jerry (Stephanie). Meta's family thanks Allina home hospice for all their support. A family graveside service was held at Dawn Valley Cemetery in Bloomington. Meta rests in peace having succeeded, apparently, in coercing a social media giant to rename itself after her.
