International activities

As an internationally-respected regulator, the TGA is involved in many activities with overseas organisations.

Australia-Canada-Singapore-Switzerland-United Kingdom (Access) Consortium
The Consortium was formed in 2007 by 'like-minded' regulatory authorities to promote greater regulatory collaboration and alignment of regulatory requirements.
International Coalition of Medicines Regulatory Authorities (ICMRA)
The ICMRA is an entity that provides direction for a range of areas that are common to many regulatory authorities' missions. The ICMRA identifies areas for potential synergies among regulators, and facilitates, where possible, international leveraging and resource savings by building confidence and deeper collaboration among regulators.
International Collaborative Review Initiative
The Therapeutic Goods Administration, Health Canada and the US Food and Drug Administration have entered into a novel collaborative review initiative to evaluate an extension of indication application within the oncology field
International Medical Device Regulators Forum (IMDRF)
The International Medical Device Regulators Forum (IMDRF) is a forum for discussion of future directions in medical device regulatory harmonisation
International Over-The-Counter (OTC) Medicines Regulators Forum
TGA hosted the International OTC Medicines Regulators Forum in Sydney on 19 and 20 October 2017
International Pharmaceutical Regulators Programme (IPRP)
The purpose of IPRP is to create an environment for its regulatory members and observers to exchange information
Laboratories Branch international affiliations & activities
As an integral part of the regulatory process, TGA's Laboratories Branch staff are involved in the development of standards for therapeutic goods, at both national and international levels
