Price is 60 cents more than a Taco Supreme at $1.89.
When the Gordita first came out back when I was in high school, the Baja version came with some corn which they have since gotten rid of. I miss the corn, it set the Baja Gordita apart from the sometimes all-too-familiar Taco Bell menu.
Now the only thing that sets the Gordita apart is the pillowy flatbread which comes warm and fluffy cushioning the filling safely from mess. It's somewhat like a pita but denser, softer, and thicker. It has a nice, soft feel that encourages you to give it a little squeeze just like those old Charmin commercials ("Please don't squeeze the Gordita!"). The crust has just the slightest of give and it goes well with the typical Taco Bell taste.
Somehow they forgot my tomatoes and went a little crazy with the sour cream; I guess they were thinking "taco" instead of "supreme" during assembly. That's what happens when your menu is mostly different combinations of the same thing.
It's good stuff but I still miss the corn.

The bread's not bad, I liked these in high school too. That being said... it's hard for me to choose one over a chalupa, but I'm biased since I love chalupas ;)
ReplyDeleteHaha, well they're fairly similar since a chalupa is pretty much a deep-fried gordita.
ReplyDeleteI forgot about Taco Bell corn. I'm going to buy one of these later today and add some canned corn to it to see if I remember.. remember..
