Travel for vaccinated Australians and permanent residents

From 1 November 2021, Australian citizens and permanent residents aged 12 and over who have received two doses of an approved or recognised vaccine will be able to leave Australia without needing an outwards travel exemption.

Children under 12 and those who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons will also be able to travel overseas without an exemption.

  • Reduced quarantine requirements for Australian children 12-17 years old

    From 1 November, unvaccinated or partially vaccinated Australian children aged 12-17 years old entering Australia through NSW, VIC and the ACT will be exempt from international arrival caps and will be eligible for 7 days home quarantine, under specific conditions.

  • COVID-19 booster shots for Australians from 8 November

    From 8 November 2021, Australians aged 18 and over who received their second COVID-19 vaccine dose at least six months ago will be eligible for a booster shot. Expert immunisation panel, ATAGI, have recommended Pfizer for the booster, regardless of which COVID-19 vaccine individuals have already received.

  • TGA approval for Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine booster dose

    The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has approved a booster dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for individuals 18 years and older, provided at least six months after the completion of a COVID-19 vaccine primary course of two doses. The primary course can be of any COVID-19 vaccine registered for use in Australia.
