About GoodtoKnow
Goodto, is the ultimate online destination for busy, women of all ages. Established in 2007, the website was originally created as a platform for some of the UK’s best lifestyle magazines, including Women’s Weekly and Essentials.
Over the years we’ve worked hard to create a wide breadth of original features, along with thousands of inspirational cooking ideas. From the latest wellbeing news to afternoon tea ideas and Mrs Hinch’s best cleaning hacks – we’ve got you covered.
How do we test our products?
Our consumer editor identifies the products she thinks our readers will be interested in, then she calls in samples from brands and retailers and assigns them to our parent reviewers, most of whom are also trained journalists. They put the item to the test with children of the relevant age for at least 10 days and submit comprehensive feedback via our Google Form to ensure that the review process is fair, thorough and consistent. Our parent-tested reviews are always honest, uncompromising and utterly independent.
We have affiliate partnerships with many baby gear brands and may earn commission if you buy a product we recommend but this never influences editorial decisions or product inclusions.
We work closely with all the major baby gear brands and retailers so we hear about new product launches when they happen and are among the first to review the latest must-have toys, items of baby gear and parenting essentials.
How do we test our recipes?
All of our recipes are created in our very own Test Kitchen by our team of expert chefs and bakers. We prepare everything at least twice or until we’re confident we’re sharing the best recipe, so you can confident of achieving the perfect results.
We work with some of the best food stylists and nutritionists in the industry, and have built up a huge collection of fuss-free recipes created by celebrity chefs – such as Mary Berry, Gordon Ramsey, Joe Wicks, Hairy Bikers and Nadiya Hussain. In our video series, How to Cook Absolutely Everything we teamed up with some of the nation’s best restaurateurs, and chefs, including Honest Burger’s Tom Barton, Masterchef winner Tim Anderson, and the king of pasta Theo Randall.
Meet the team
Anna Bailey, Editor
Anna Bailey is the editor of GoodtoKnow. She joined the team in June 2018 but has been a lifestyle writer and online editor for more than 14 years.
Anna graduated from Bournemouth University in 2004 with a degree in Multimedia Journalism and went on to gain her NCTJ and NCE journalism qualifications.
She began her career in local journalism, working as a reporter for the Basingstoke Gazette in Hampshire – where she specialised in real life features. As Lifestyle Editor for ITV.com she managed the websites for the broadcaster’s best-loved shows including Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Coleen’s Real Women, and Britain’s Best Dish. She was also responsible for the websites for This Morning and Loose Women, and particularly enjoyed chatting to guests in the green room – Piers Morgan even thanked her for a ‘great interview’.
Before joining Goodto.com she was also a Features Editor at MSN UK, where she oversaw the Health & Fitness and Travel sections – and was Digital Lifestyle Editor for the broadcaster UKTV. She’s also contributed to The Mirror, LoveFood, LoveExploring, and TBSeen. Anna has always loved attending weddings and big family occasions. She combined this interest with her passion for interviewing people about the subjects that matter to them most to become a wedding and baby naming celebrant, fully accredited by Humanists UK.
Heidi Scrimgeour, Consumer Editor
Heidi joined the team in 2021 as consumer editor of Goodto.com after a 16-year career as a freelance parenting and lifestyle journalist. She has an undergraduate degree in English & Media Arts and gained a Masters with Distinction from the University of Westminster in 2005.
Heidi has written features for most UK national newspapers including the The Guardian, Telegraph and the Daily Mail, and for a range of consumer magazines and digital platforms including Red, Psychologies and Stylist.
She was baby gear editor of Mother & Baby magazine for six years, looking after consumer content including buying guides and gift guides. From which car seat will actually make your life easier, to whether you really need off-road wheels on your buggy, there is no parenting problem Heidi hasn’t solved when it comes to shopping for essentials for kids.
Heidi has appeared on ITV’s This Morning to debate whether you should ever tell off someone else’s child (hard no) and The One Show once turned her kids’ playroom into a studio to film her for a piece about the bystander effect (long story). Heidi was invited on BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour to defend the case for toddlers having dummies in a discussion with Jane Garvey. Her articles have been discussed on Loose Women and shared by Richard Branson and as the author of a popular parenting column for AOL’s Parentdish, her piece on why she hates school sports days ended up as a GCSE English exam paper. (Awkward.)
Originally from Surrey, Heidi lives in Northern Ireland with her husband and their daughter and two sons aged between eight and 17 years old. Unsurprisingly, she is fond of spa days and gin.
