We protect your privacy in line with the Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988 (Privacy Act), including the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) and the Australian Government Agencies Privacy Code.

Information collected in discharging our regulatory functions

We obtain personal information when discharging our regulatory functions under the Gene Technology Act 2000. Our OGTR Privacy Policy explains how we deal with this information, including how we collect, use, access and disclose it.

The OGTR is part of the Commonwealth Department of Health. Health provides staff and all corporate and administrative services, including information management systems, to support our activities. See Health’s Privacy Policy for more details.

Privacy Impact Assessments Register

OGTR operates within the Department of Health’s information management and IT systems, which are subject to the Department’s PIA requirements.

No high-risk privacy projects have been identified that have required us to prepare a Privacy Impact Assessment since 1 July 2018.
