The HIV Legal Collaborative (HLC) is a national network of attorneys interested in assisting and supporting The Center for HIV Law and Policy (CHLP) in legal and policy advocacy on behalf of people living with HIV. HLC attorneys agree to provide assistance on one or more projects involving varying levels of time and commitment, including:
- Advising CHLP staff on local practice and procedures, particularly in the attorney's area of expertise;
- Serving as a point of contact for a case CHLP is monitoring and documenting;
- Reviewing draft publications and other documents; and
- Counseling people living with HIV with legal questions, drafting amicus curiae briefs, or providing actual legal representation.
New HLC member receive resources for attorneys representing people with HIV in discrimination, criminalization, and other matters. We also provide regular updates on additions to the HIV Policy Resource Bank and developments related to CHLP's work.
