Nicholas Pierce made his collection of Baloch recordings in Pakistan during the summer of 1984, as an undergraduate music student at Girton College, Cambridge University. The collection includes recordings of a wide range of vocal and instrumental genres from different parts of Pakistan, mainly recorded by musicians based in Quetta and in festivals and villages in and around Kot Qaisrani, in the D.G. Khan district of the Punjab province.
