    Yogi Adityanath govt's report card is all gas, full of lies: Opposition

    UP Chief Minister released the report card of his rule of four-and-half years and said the state remained riot-free since 2017 while governance saw a complete transformation from the past with welfare schemes now reaching the deserving and the state emerging as number two in the ease of doing business.

    "To complete four and a half years tenure in a state like UP is very important in the view of security and good governance. Perception of the state has changed in the country.     Assembly elections to four states - West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Assam - and the union territory of Puducherry will be held over March-April. Votes will be counted on May 2. In West Bengal, the fight is mainly between the ruling Trinamool Congress and the BJP. An alliance of Left parties, Congress and Indian Secular Front form the third force. CM Mamata Banerjee, which has been in power since 2011, is trying to fight off a spirited challenge from the BJP. The saffron party had only 3 seats in 2016, but has since grown in strength, winning18 of the 42 seats in the 2019 LS elections. In Tamil Nadu, the DMK led by MK Stalin is trying to unseat the AIADMK which has been in power since 2011. The DMK allies include the Congress, Left parties and some minor parties. The ruling AIADMK is in an alliance with the BJP. There is also a smaller front of TTV Dhinakaran's AMMK and Captain Vijayakanth's MDMK. In Kerala, the Congress-led United Democratic Front seeks to snatch power from the Left Democratic Front. The BJP here is a distant third. . Over the last more than 3 decades, Kerala has been picking both fronts alternately. Can Congress buck the popularity of Pinarayi Vijayan and keep its date this time? In Assam, the BJP-AGP-UPPL fights to retain power. Taking them on is a Grand Alliance of six parties led by the Congress. Others are AIUDF, AGM, Left parties and RJD. In Puducherry, the alliance of Congress-DMK which was in power, faces a tough challenge from the NR Congress-AIADMK-BJP alliance. West Bengal votes in 8 phases and Assam in 3. Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry vote in a single phase on April 6.
