Daimler-owned microcar manufacturer Smart began as the brain-child of Swatch watch founder Nicolas Hayek. Urban dwellers in the US now have the choice between gas and electric powered versions of the ultra-compact ForTwo model.
The two companies are entering in a joint venture to produce "premium and intelligent electrified vehicles" for the Chinese and German markets.
The electric Smarts get a nice overhaul, but won't be sold in the US.
They're not coming to America, though.
The ForTwo Final Collector's Edition is being built by Brabus and styled by Konstantin Grcic.
It has sold fewer than 100 cars each month in 2019 thus far.
Smart will launch a new China-built model by 2022.
The Smart car brand has long been a money-loser for parent company Daimler, and now its days may be numbered.
Adding a top gives this concept an extra dash of character.
