King: Journalists in classified leak cases should face punishment

(CNN) - Rep. Peter King said Tuesday night that journalists tied to leaks involving classified programs should be punished along with those who leaked the information.

"If they willingly knew that this was classified information, I think actions should be taken, especially on something of this magnitude," King told CNN's Anderson Cooper.

Biden on Mass. election: Without Obama on ticket, minority turnout will be low

(CNN) - Vice President Joe Biden said Tuesday night the minority turnout in Massachusetts' upcoming Senate election may be low because President Barack Obama is not at the top of the ticket.

According to pool reports, Biden also offered stinging criticism of the Republican Party at the fundraiser, especially of two first-term senators: Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas and Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky.

A birthday present for President George H.W. Bush: If the sock fits

Washington (CNN) - As former President George H.W. Bush laid in a hospital intensive care this past December fighting a fever and cough, he and those close to him might have doubted he would spend his 89th birthday at his beloved Maine home in Kennebunkport.

But fast forward five months after his January discharge and that is exactly where on Wednesday Bush will mark the milestone.

Vermont senator revives debate over gay rights in immigration bill

(CNN) - Democratic Sen. Patrick Leahy filed three amendments Tuesday night to the immigration reform package, including a controversial amendment involving gay rights that could potentially derail the bill's progress in the Senate.

The senator from Vermont proposed recognizing same-sex marriages in which one spouse is an American, saying the amendment would "remove discrimination from our immigration system."

House has tough questions about secret surveillance programs

Washington (CNN) - House members from both political parties Tuesday raised concerns and tough questions for administration officials who briefed the entire chamber on the government's recently revealed top secret surveillance programs.

While Peter King, a Republican member of the House Homeland Security Committee, complimented the briefing team, some of his colleagues said some questions remain unanswered.

Ohio man charged in bizarre White House security incident

Washington (CNN) - An Ohio man was charged Tuesday with destruction of property stemming from a bizarre incident outside the White House that involved a driverless SUV.

Joseph Clifford Reel, 32, of Kettering, Ohio, appeared in federal court and will remain jailed pending a detention hearing on Thursday.

In a sometimes fiery exchange that veered from the issue of digital privacy to the contested Keystone pipeline, both candidates often reverted back to negative attacks.

Poll: You're starting to remember Bush fondly

(CNN) - For the first time since 2005, more Americans have a favorable view of former President George W. Bush than an unfavorable view.

According to a new Gallup poll released Tuesday, 49% have a positive opinion of the two-term Republican president, while 46% feel the opposite.

That's the joke in a new Tumblr mocking the National Security Agency's Internet data-mining program that came to light last week.
