Change or reset your password

Learn how to change or reset your New York Times Account password.   

When you create a New York Times Account, you select an email address and password to serve as your login credentials. Changing or resetting your password is a great way to resolve login issues. For more troubleshooting steps refer to Troubleshoot login issues on the mobile apps and Troubleshoot login issues on a web browser.  

Select an option for steps on how to:

If you use Google, Facebook, or Apple account credentials to access New York Times subscription or account, you can change your password through Google, Facebook, or Apple. Then log in to The New York Times using your new login credentials. 

 

Reset your password

If you need to reset your password you can visit the password reset form or click Forgot your password? on the New York Times login screen and complete the following steps to regain access to your New York Times subscription or account:

 

  1. Enter the email address associated with your New York Times Account.
  2. Check your email inbox for the password reset email. It should arrive within a minute.account-reset-password.png
  3. Click the Create your password reset button in the email. 
  4. Enter a new password that is at least 6 characters long.
  5. Click Submit.

Once you reset your password, you will be automatically logged in to your New York Times Account. 

 

Change your password

You can change your password at any time on your New York Times Account

  1. Select Update  in the Password section of Your profile. your_profile__1_.png
  2. Enter your current password, a new password that is at least 6 characters long, and confirm the new password.Screen_Shot_2021-06-15_at_11.02.43_AM.png
  3. Click Save.

Once you change your password, you will be required to log in using your new password.
