    This by is clever & really important. I just hope that we can also remind people that coercive control has many layers and levels and often it does not have to be all of this to be toxic. It can often exist as benevolence which is why it is so hard to isolate at times.

    1 of 2 Brilliant chat with this week helped me see that an industry full of disabled (& frankly - diverse script editors in general) would have eradicated so many discussed missed opportunities to get something nearly right - really really right.

    I would argue that this is true of most, if not all countries - "...the positive messages on disability being delivered through the Paralympics are largely meaningless unless they are accompanied by fundamental institutional, legal and societal change."

    Two years ago, at a wedding, a man called Barry asked my husband why he was attracted to me given my disability. In my next thriller, the hero has cerebral palsy, like me. I took inspiration from this encounter and named the villain Barry. Touché, Barry, you horrible thing.

    I have cerebral palsy. A fellow guest at a lunch noticed my limp and asked what was wrong with me. I explained, then he said to my husband: "And you find that attractive?" It took me years to learn to love my body. I can only assume he has a penis the size of a pea.

    I honestly can’t express how grateful I am for the support I’ve received over the last few days. I’m not a celebrity. I’m not a chef. And I’m not sure I’m a master of much 😂 This time last year (in lockdown), I made my first omelette. It was terrible. 1/4

    I wrote a letter to Jill in 1989 to tell her that THE WORST WITCH was my favourite book in the world. Mildred, Maud and Enid were the OG witch girl group. Murphy will live forever in those characters.
