Olivia Rodrigo Makes History In The U.K. With Three Simultaneous Top Five Hits

Hugh McIntyre

For the third week in a row, Olivia Rodrigo rules the U.K. songs chart, as her current single “Good 4 U” doesn’t budge an inch on the tally that ranks the most-consumed tunes in the nation. The cut has now spent four frames on the list, originally opening in second place before rising to the peak position.

This week is special for the pop singer, as she makes history in one very specific manner as two other tracks featured on her debut album advance to important spots on the tally.

Rodrigo currently fills three spaces inside the top five on the U.K. songs chart, which is apparently a feat no woman has managed before. According to the Official Charts Company, the teenage prodigy is the first female musician to claim a trio of top five simultaneous smashes on the list.

As “Good 4 U” runs the show once again, Rodrigo’s previous single “Deja Vu” advances slightly, lifting from No. 5 to No. 4. Helping her earn this spot in the history books is recent release “Traitor,” which hasn’t yet been promoted as a single, but which has been identified by fans as a favorite. The track debuted at No. 7 several weeks back, and now it’s returned to the list at No. 5, hitting a new peak in the process.

Rodrigo is apparently not the only musician to accomplish this feat, as fellow superstars like John Lennon, Drake, Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber have done the same.

“Good 4 U,” “Deja Vu” and “Traitor” are all featured on the singer's debut album Sour, which also rose to No. 1 without issue. This frame, it dips to second place, replaced atop the tally by Wolf Alice’s Blue Weekend, the band’s first leader. The set also produced a fourth top five hit in “Drivers License,” which started at No. 1 in the beginning of 2021.
