Meet Men's Health's Next Top Trainer

Andrew Speer was tested, learned from it, and eventually stole the show

You might recognize the winner of . As a fitness model, Andrew Speer appeared on the pages of magazines and as background talent in Men's Health 60-Day Transformation and Beach Body's Focus T25 with Shaun T.

With modeling gigs and two DVDs under his belt, you might think Speer has already made it. But the 33-year-old trainer, who currently coaches clients at Soho Strength Lab in New York City, wants to take the lead and star in his own Men's Health DVD. Winning that role, however, wouldn't be easy.

"As a former D-I athlete, competition is no stranger to me, but Next Top Trainer was unlike anything I've ever experienced," says Speer. During the first couple of challenges, he found himself at the top of the pack with the judges applauding his form and execution. Then, Speer found himself falling to the bottom of pack. It forced the trainer to look at what was really holding him back: himself.

"I needed to show the judges my personality and prove that I could engage with viewers on camera," says Speer. When he managed to do that, the judges announced that Speer was the trainer they were looking for to join the Men's Health team. "He was able to put creative spins on classic exercises to showcase his knowledge and expertise as a trainer, and he let his personality show through. He clearly has what it takes to run the show," says David Jack, creator of the Men's Health 60-Day Transformation

"I learned to break out of my shell on Next Top Trainer, and now I have the platform to empower others to do the same," says Speer. "I want to help people take action, find self-confidence, and ultimately change their lives for the better."

Speer is gearing up to shoot his Men's Health fitness DVD to be released later this year. Stay tuned.
