The rule of law is a fundamental principle of equality of everyone before the law and inevitable punishment for unlawful acts.
The rule of law principle is key for sustainable social development and covers nearly all aspects of life of Ukrainian people: from personal security, property rights and conflict resolution to combating corruption effectively.
The key priorities of the Ukrainian Government within its authority are to create the proper mechanism of enforcing liability for offences, following the letter of the law, and combating abuse of power and bribery at each level.
Therefore, the Government’s tasks for the purpose of achieving the rule of law are:
Legal protection of each individual by introducing binding and inevitable execution of court orders.
Building a network of high-quality, free legal aid raising legal awareness of Ukrainians helping them address their issues lawfully, reducing petty corruption and promoting the development of civil society in Ukraine.
Creating an effective penitentiary system to try to preserve useful civic potential and bring convicts back to normal and full life.
Transition to a single notarial system to make notarisation available in each notarial district, secure notarisation for vulnerable groups and streamline notarial processes thereby rendering quicker notarial services to people.
Defence of property to protect businesses and individuals from raidership and fraud, promote the country’s investment climate and improve its investment appeal by ensuring the sanctity of rights to assets.
Ensuring proper implementation of anti-corruption legislation and functioning of a transparent system of anti-corruption institutions.
These tasks will help develop Ukrainian society, raise public confidence in protection of everyone’s right by law, build the foundation for the country’s further development and improve the people’s social well-being.
