Mary Jo Carlson

Carlson, Mary Jo Age 80, of Minneapolis, passed away peacefully on April 3rd, 2021 at Cottagewood Senior Communities in Mankato, MN. Private family service and interment will be held at Christ Presbyterian Church in Edina. Woodland Hills Funeral Home of Mankato is assisting the family with arrangements. Mary Jo was born on February 25, 1941 to Arthur and Lois Anderson in Minneapolis. After graduating from Minnehaha Academy, she received her Physical Therapy degree from the University of MN and also raised her two sons with their father, Eldon Hubner. On May 31, 1997 Mary Jo married her high school sweetheart, Larry Carlson and together they lived in CA. for over 10 years. After a 40+ years as a Physical Therapist, Mary Jo retired and together she and Larry returned to Edina, MN. Mary Jo enjoyed her family, reading, and entertaining. Mary Jo's faith was strong, and she was active as a deacon and volunteer at Christ Presbyterian Church in Edina, where she and Larry became involved in church choir. Mary Jo is survived by her sons, Jon (Brandi) Hubner of Mankato, MN and Tony Hubner of Detroit, MI; siblings, Ted (Carol) Anderson of Bloomington, MN, Ardis (Spencer) Osterberg of Albert Lea, MN, Brian (Jeannie) Anderson of Little Falls, MN, Bruce (Kim) Anderson of Eufaula, WA; and many nieces and nephews. Mary Jo was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 18 years, Larry Carlson; ex-husband Eldon Hubner. Memorial contributions may be made to Cottagewood Senior Communities 300 Bunting Ln. John Graham Colwell

Colwell, John Graham Age 88 of Golden Valley, John passed away peacefully on Easter, April 4, 2021 at NC Little Hospice of Edina. John graduated from Blake School and Carleton College. Upon graduating, John entered the Army and was stationed at Fort Belvoir in Virginia. After his military service, John entered the family printing business, Colwell Press (Colwell Industries), where he worked his entire career, ultimately retiring as Executive Vice President and Vice Chairman. John served on numerous Boards, including Children's Hospital, Viking Council (Boy Scouts), VocalEssence, and Golden Valley Historical Society. In addition, he served on multiple printing industry association boards and regularly attended Breakfast Club. He was also a longtime member of Plymouth Congregational Church, The Minikahda Club, and Alexandria Golf Club. John loved to spend summer weekends at the cabin in Alexandria, where he fished, played golf, and entertained friends and family. He also loved the annual August tradition of traveling to Montana, where he would fly fish the famous Gallatin River and pose as tour guide for excursions to Yellowstone Park. John was preceded in death by his parents, Felton and Helen, along with his sister, Cynthia. He is survived by his wife (Joan) of 64 years and three children, Kip (Kathy), Meg, Robert, and four grandchildren, Brian, Emily, Graham, and Jimmy, as well as several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brothers Thomas (Phyllis) and David. The family would like to give special thanks to the caregivers at Sunrise of Edina, Fairview Southdale, and NC Little. Due to COVID restrictions, a private service for family will be conducted at Washburn-McReavy in Edina. Maria Luisa Donohue

Donohue, Maria Luisa age 89 of NE. Mpls., passed away peacefully on April 5, 2021. Born and raised in Colombia, South America. Came to the United States on a scholarship where she received her master's degree in nursing education from the U of MN. Preceded in death by husband, William J. "Bill"; siblings, Carmelita, Purita, Paolina, Juaco; survived by children, Kevin (Detsy), Pati (James) Mikulasik, Morgan (Celine), and Billy (Petra); 14 grandchildren; siblings, Ventura, Ninfa, and Angelica; many loving relatives and friends. Terry Lee Jensen

Jensen, Terry Lee age 75 of St. Michael, MN, passed away peacefully at home with his family on April 5, 2021. Terry is preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Ardis; sister, Judy; and brother, Tom. He is survived by his children, Shawn and Lisa; grandchildren, Mason, Logan, & Natalie; siblings, Barb, Alex, Arlana, and Tim; and many other relatives and close friends. Nancy (Christenson) Lea

Lea, Nancy (Christenson) May 28, 1939 - April 5, 2021 Nancy Lee Lea was born on May 28, 1939, in Morris, Minnesota, the daughter of Lawrence and Gladys (Urness) Christenson. She grew up in Cyrus and graduated from Cyrus High School in 1956. On December 15, 1956, Nancy was united in marriage to Ronald D. Lea in Morris, Minnesota. They lived in Willmar for many years, where they raised their three children, later moving to Eden Prairie in 1988. Nancy spent many years working in retail, first at Wallaces in Willmar and later at Casual Corner in Edina, where she achieved the coveted goal of one million dollars in sales. She was known for dressing to impress, and enjoyed traveling, cooking for a crowd, winters in Florida and summers at the lake. For the past 26 years, Nancy has resided in Edina with her significant other, Bob Ardolf. Nancy passed away on April 5, 2021 in Edina, MN, at the age of 81 years. She is survived by son, Rory Lea, wife Amy and their daughters Hanna and Karlie of Chanhassen, MN; son, Chad Lea, wife Lori and their sons Jared, Logan and Zach of Mound, MN; grandson, Tyler Hirth, wife Rachel and their son Hawkins of Tonka Bay, MN; granddaughter, Morgan Haupert, husband Dave of Lakeville, MN; brother, Jim Christenson (and special friend, Loretta) of Yakima, WA; significant other, Bob Ardolf of Edina, MN; and Bob's children, Blaise Ardolf, Sheri Ann Anderson and husband Chris, and Barry Ardolf. Nancy was preceded in death by husband Ron, daughter Vickie Lea, brother Darrel Christenson, sister Pat Muehlbauer; and a special aunt and uncle Sam and Aggie Olson. Meg Irene Nathan

Nathan, Meg Irene 65, passed away March 28 at Woodbury Health Center after stroke complications. Meg was born September 25, 1955 to Irene and Walter Kamrath. She grew up in Mandan, ND, graduated high school and attended BSC. She married Kevin Nathan in 1976, later divorced. They had one son, Carl. Meg's work was often as an administrative assistant or office manager. Her most recent position was with Garlock-French Roofing. She had made the Twin Cities her home for 33 years. She is survived by her son, Carl, and grandson, Jamie, sister, Kathy (Dan) Shea, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents. Memorial service will be held at Cremation Society of Minnesota St. Paul at 1pm on April 17th. 1979 Old Hudson Road St. Paul, MN 55119.


Nathan L. Paley

Paley, Nathan L. Age 73, died on April 7, 2021 of complications from Parkinson's disease. Survived by his wife of 40 years, Ruth; children, Deborah (Joe Lieberman) & Daniel (Roxanne Santaana); grandson, Judah Lieberman; brother, Benjamin Paley; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and others the world over. Nathan arrived in the US in 1978 as a refugee from the USSR with less than $100 in his pocket, but with a brilliant mind and filled with hope that life in the US would fulfill his dreams. And it did, in so many ways, as a husband, father, relative, businessman, and friend. We will celebrate his life and legacy at 11:00 am on FRIDAY, April 9th at ADATH CHESED SHEL EMES CEMETERY, 3740 Winnetka Ave, Crystal. Service is also available on zoom. Jonathan Holmes Pate

Pate, Jonathan Holmes age 55. Born August 23, 1965 in St. Paul, MN. He passed away unexpectedly on March 31st, 2021. He is survived by wife, Cindy, son Zachary (Marissa), daughter Jessica and grandson Fitz. Survived by parents Karen and Galen Pate and sister Kristen Pate. He was preceded in death by sisters Laura and Elizabeth. April 20th, 1990 Jon married his best friend Cindy. They preceded to have two children, and 1 grandson; they were the center of Jon's universe. He was so proud of the wonderful and compassionate people Jessica and Zach have become. In 1991 Jon started Pate Bonding, Inc., where he was a successful owner and bond agent for 30 years. He was simultaneously the former owner and chairman of Granite Re, a national surety company. Most of his employees have been with him from the beginning. Jon ran his businesses as part of his family. Jon was charitable and led by example. He demonstrated this time and time again, supporting many local charities, but the most important to him was Living Well Disability Services. For many years, he hosted an annual Farm Fest party to support Living Well. Jon's parents taught him to be kind, loving, and passionate about everything he believed in and he truly lived by his motto, "Go big or Go home". Jon was a farmer at heart and spent a lot of time outdoors on his tractors. He loved anything with a motor. Whether it was dirt biking, snowmobiling, motorcycles, or flying his plane. He loved everything outdoors, including pheasant hunting, deer hunting and being with his horses and dogs. He also spent many hours in his wood shop, often creating beautiful pieces for the people in his life. Jon had so many talents which he used mostly to create for others. Jon was larger than life. His generosity with his friendships, time and knowledge was an inspiration to us all. He was our superman and he will be missed forever. Rajtar, Stella "Anastasia" (nee Sauk) Age 91 born in Czuczelice, Poland, resident of Minneapolis. Mary 'Cecilia' Rodriguez

Rodriguez, Mary "Cecilia" age 58, of Topeka, passed April 5, 2021. Cecilia was born in Missouri and was raised in Topeka, KS. She was a proud employee of the state of Minnesota for 20 years. Her greatest passion was helping those people who most needed help. Recently she worked to assist individuals with successful reintegration into the community after being incarcerated. She did this with compassion and dedication up until her retirement in 2017. Cecilia took immense pride in teaching herself Spanish and becoming fluent throughout her years. This helped her not only professionally but brought great joy personally. She was exceptional at many things but what she enjoyed most was cooking, baking, playing cards, dominoes and being a master scrabble player.
