This year, the film and music festivals and conferences are running entirely online, March 16 – 20.
Following its online-only 2020 event, the Austin-based TV festival will once again host an immersive “at home” experience — this time, bigger than ever.
Typically taking place in early July, the European film festival has been pushed back so it can run “in a form that will be maximally safe for guests and visitors.”
The festival is optimistic about an in-person event taking place this fall in Colorado.
The pandemic pushed back the annual event, which will now unfurl as a two-pronged festival playing out in both March and June.
A year after the annual film gathering was cancelled due to the pandemic, SXSW has shifted to make its selections available to wider audiences.
Sundance says the seven-day virtual engagement brought the festival’s largest-ever audience.
Many films are arriving to the festival without distribution, meaning buyers have plenty of choices.
