Another feature that I loved about the Pixel is "Flip to Shhh". When you're out to lunch, just put your phone face-down on the table and forget about notifications for a while. Again, super convenient.

One Pixel feature that I love is the fingerprint sensor on the back. In the Year of the Mask, fingerprint sensors are so much more convenient than FaceID. Another feature I love is how you can tell it to remain unlocked when you're in your car or at home. Also very convenient.

Google Pixel really is an incredible device. I don't think I realized just how thoughtful some of the details were until I switched back to iPhone a few months ago. iPhone build quality is superior, but the software and security features of the Pixel are second to none.

I’ve spent the past few nights lying awake in bed, feeling a very small portion of the immense grief his family must be going through right now. Hold the people you love close. Especially the loud, outgoing ones you think are ok. You never really know what they’re going through.

A student at my son’s high school killed himself this past weekend. He was on the basketball team before the pandemic hit. It’s the second high school age suicide in our school district this past year.

This applies to organizing modules (files) but it also applies to organizing packages. In a multi-package project, where does a function belong? Look at the package dependencies. Functions that share dependencies probably belong in the same package.

In a large project, how do you decide where to put a new piece of code? One heuristic I've found to be very helpful: look at the imports. Functions that share imports usually belong together. Corollary: lots of imports means you have lots of unrelated code.

The fact that Bitcoin responds negatively to downward movement on the NYSE makes no sense whatsoever to me. You'd think that when traditional markets are down, Bitcoin would be up.
