Powlzee: It's not just about losing. I support Tottenham for many reasons, two of which being ethos and style of play. Mourinho has never synced with that. Why must he stick around for a rebuild when his vision is not what many of us want?

Greig: Was Roofe’s challenge incredibly dangerous and worthy of a lengthy suspension? Yes. But if these accusations are correct, a true test of UEFA's commitment to tackling racism will be who faces the longer suspension: Roofe or Kudela?

  10. 'Disgusting accusation'

Rangers 0-2 Slavia Prague (agg 1-3)

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard was left "angry and upset" after midfielder Glen Kamara told him he was racially abused during his side's Europa League defeat by Slavia Prague at Ibrox on Thursday.

Slavia's Ondrej Kudela said something to Kamara while covering his mouth amid a melee in the final stages.

"My player tells me he was racially abused," Gerrard said.

In a statement, Slavia said Kudela admitted swearing at Kamara but denied the "disgusting accusation" of racism.

  11. Rangers beaten in ill-tempered game

Rangers 0-2 Slavia Prague (agg 1-3)

Rangers were knocked out after they were beaten at Ibrox for the first time in just over a year.

Peter Olayinka's first-half header gave the Czech champions the lead following a 1-1 draw in Prague, and Nicolae Stanciu doubled the advantage after Leon Balogun was shown a second yellow.

Rangers were already down to 10 by then, Kemar Roofe having been sent off within six minutes of coming on for catching goalkeeper Ondrej Kolar in the face with his boot.

There was still time for further tumult in the closing minutes. A strong challenge by Connor Goldson precipitated a melee, and Ondrej Kudela uttered something to Glen Kamara while covering his mouth with a hand.

That enraged Rangers' players, with Kamara, Goldson and Bongani Zungu particularly incensed, and manager Steven Gerrard confirmed afterwards that Kamara told him he was racially abused, with other players also having heard the comments.

  12. 'We were nowhere near the levels'

    Arsenal 0-1 Olympiakos (agg 3-2)

    Arsenal

Speaking after his side's qualification, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said: "Really happy to be through. Sometimes we have to be fair with ourselves - we were nowhere near the levels we could be.

"We were unstable with the ball and we gave it away. It's impossible when you give the ball away to have any structure. We created enough chances to win but were nowhere near the levels in which we can perform.

"We can't use any excuses. We had fresh players in the side. We started the game really well but then we had a lack of stability. We need to keep the ball and play some passes together and not just keep giving the ball away in transitions.

"We'll get better. When it comes to decision-making and execution, it's a little bit more difficult.

"We need another win in the Premier League and it's a big chance after the international break to get a run together."

  13. Arsenal through despite defeat

    Arsenal 0-1 Olympiakos (agg 3-2)

Arsenal will join Manchester United in the hat for the Europa League quarter-final despite losing against Olympiakos in their last-16 second leg.

Leading 3-1 from the game in Greece, the Gunners were comfortable throughout the first half in London.

Some nerves began to show after Youssef El-Arabi's shot found the net via a deflection off Gabriel to give the visitors hope of repeating last season's shock - when they knocked the Gunners out of the Europa League in the last 32 by scoring in the final minute of extra time at Emirates Stadium.

But it was not to be as Arsenal managed the remainder of the game, helped by a red card shown to Ousseynou Ba for dissent late on.

Mike: A gutless and utterly disgusting performance by Spurs. The managers' are the ones who pay the price but a good core of these players are the same ones that got Poch sacked. A clear out is needed in the summer. Sorry is not good enough any more

  15. Henderson 'should have done that last week'

AC Milan 0-1 Man Utd (agg 1-2)

    Simon Stone

    BBC Sport

Another clean sheet for Manchester United last night, their sixth in seven games.

The only goal conceded was AC Milan's injury-time equaliser in the first-leg of their Europa League tie last week, which manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer evidently has not forgotten given the similarity to the chance Zlatan Ibrahimovic had last night, which Dean Henderson saved.

"It was a great save," said Solskjaer. "But it was save Dean should have made last week, very similar."

United have not conceded away from Old Trafford since the draw at West Brom on 14 February.

They are away again at Leicester in the FA Cup on Sunday.

  16. Henderson stakes his claim

AC Milan 0-1 Man Utd (agg 1-2)

While Paul Pogba provided the difference at one end of the pitch, United will also leave Italy thankful for goalkeeper Dean Henderson's form at the other.

The 24-year-old was criticised in the aftermath of the first leg for failing to save Simon Kjaer's added-time equaliser but he atoned in perfect fashion.

His reflex save to deny Zlatan Ibrahimovic only told part of the story of a near faultless display.

Henderson has now kept 11 clean sheets in 18 appearances for the club and is making a determined case to be considered ahead of long-time number one David de Gea.

  17. Pogba's immediate impact

AC Milan 0-1 Man Utd (agg 1-2)

    Simon Stone

    BBC Sport

Paul Pogba made an immediate impact on his return to first-team action for Manchester United last night.

Three minutes after replacing Marcus Rashford at half-time in the San Siro, he scored the only goal.

It was a decent effort considering he has missed 10 games with a thigh injury.

"Paul looked like he had been out for six weeks," said manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

"He couldn’t have played more than 45 minutes last night.

"The boys have done fantastically well without him but we know his qualities."

United have won eight games by a single goal since the start of 2021.

Pogba has scored the winner in three, Bruno Fernandes and Scott McTominay two each and the other was a Craig Dawson own goal.

  18. Pogba steers Man Utd into the quarter-finals

AC Milan 0-1 Man Utd (agg 1-2)

It was better news for Jose Mourinho's former club, as Man Utd beat AC Milan to qualify for the quarter-finals.

Paul Pogba returned from injury to score the winner, just three minutes after being introduced as a half-time substitute in the second leg of an evenly poised last-16 tie.

The 28-year-old was making his first appearance in the competition this season, after coming back from a thigh injury which had kept him out since 6 February.

  19. Lloris wades in

Dinamo Zagreb 3-0 Tottenham (AET, agg 3-2)

Jose Mourinho was not the only one to wade into the Spurs players immediately after the defeat...

France's World Cup-winning goalkeeper Hugo Lloris gave a brutally honest assessment of his team's performance and an insight into the issues troubling the club.

"It's a disgrace," he told BT Sport. "I hope everyone in the changing room feels responsible. The taste of the defeat is more than painful and we are all responsible.

"We are a club full of ambition but the team at the moment is a reflection of what is going on in the club. Lack of basics, lack of fundamentals. Mentally we should be stronger, more competitive.

"At this level, when you are not ready, you pay - and if you don't respect the opponent, it's punished. The blame is on all the team, all the club. We are guilty."
