Troy Jeffrey Fountain

Fountain, Troy Jeffrey age 55, Minnetonka, MN, passed away on March 11, 2021. Troy Fountain was born in Rapid City, SD on July 3, 1965. Troy was the son of George and Beverly Fountain and grew up in Redfield, SD graduating from Redfield High School in 1983. He graduated from North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND in 1988 with a degree in Architecture. Troy began his career as an Architect in Los Angeles, CA for the firm of Dougherty & Dougherty Architects LLP from 1990 to 1996. Troy moved back to the Midwest and joined the Architecture firm of ESG Architecture and Design, Minneapolis, in 1997 and was with the firm until his illness made it too difficult to continue. At ESG, Troy was a Senior Project Architect responsible for all phases of design and documentation on medium to large- scale hospitality, residential and mixed-use projects. Troy was a talented and dedicated Architect. His talent was evident early on in his life with a flair for drawing and sketching. Troy worked tirelessly at his craft, being lead Architect for many buildings in the Minneapolis area such as the Westin Galleria in Edina and the Radisson Blu at the Mall of America and the Hyatt Regency in Bloomington. In addition, he worked on resort hotel design from Texas to Florida. His last major project was the Hyatt Regency in Portland, OR. Troy loved to share stories from his time in Portland for its eclectic culture. It was so interesting to go with Troy to buildings that he helped design and hear about the technical and finish aspects that go into buildings that we often take for granted. Troy so enjoyed being in nature and he always found refuge on his deck in his beautiful backyard that faced a marsh teeming with wildlife. Spectacular sunsets along with his fire pit and interesting mood lighting and multiple genres of music were Troy's oasis. Troy was a quiet person but enjoyed interesting conversations, news stories, and sports. Family was very important to Troy and he enjoyed time spent as uncle to Meghan and Alex. He loved to be on the water and enjoyed time at the lakes with the kids on pontoons, paddle boats, and jet skis. Troy also had many classic memories with friends at Cottonwood Lake back home in Redfield. Troy was always in his element when he was outside and took advantage when opportunities presented themselves, like backpacking through Europe with classmates from NDSU. Troy loved the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins and we have great memories of attending games with family and friends. Troy faced a tough battle when he was diagnosed with cancer on his birthday in July, 2019. He was so proud when he passed his first milestone one year out from his diagnosis. He was a warrior throughout the battle. Love for Troy was evident in those that stepped forward to help, sister Jennifer, high school friends Mike Pfister and Rob Scriver and caring neighbors. In addition, his employer ESG Architects are to be commended for their support throughout his illness. They went above and beyond when many, if not most, would not have done the same. Troy was a beloved family member and friend and will be greatly missed. Troy was preceded in death by his parents George and Beverly. Troy is survived by his sister Jennifer (Robert) Dirk, niece Meghan Dirk and nephew Alex Dirk of Fargo and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Memorial Service for Troy will be held over Zoom on Saturday, March 20th, 2021 at 10 AM Central Time. Friar Edmund Goldbach, OFM Conv.

Goldbach, Friar Edmund OFM Conv. Friar Edmund Goldbach OFM Conv. lived with a quiet, peaceful certainty that God would guide him to where he was needed, where God wanted him to be. A profound prayer life reinforced his faith and trust that God would always provide. Friar Edmund passed away on March 14, 2021, in Edina, Minnesota. He was born Clarence George Goldbach, Jr. to Clarence and Mary Regina (Clinton) Goldbach in Cleveland, Ohio, on August 29, 1938. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Dennis, and is survived by his sisters, Nancy Jean Engle (+Don) and Barbara Ann Lesniak (+Don), 10 nieces and nephews, and nearly 40 great-nieces and -nephews. After graduating from the minor seminary at Mount St. Francis in 1956, he entered the Conventual Franciscan Novitiate in Angola, Indiana, and professed Simple Vows on July 21, 1957. He received his undergraduate education at Our Lady of Carey Seminary in Carey, Ohio, where he professed Solemn Vows on July 23, 1960. He then attended Assumption Seminary in Chaska, Minnesota, and was ordained to the priesthood on March 13, 1965, in St. Paul, Minnesota. A gifted pastor, Fr. Edmund served in parish ministry in Kentucky, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana. He served within the Province of Our Lady of Consolation in leadership roles and in the formation of new Friars. "You could tell that he was faithful to his prayer life and acted out of his relationship with God," said a Friar who served with Friar Edmund. "He would often say that something was Providential, that it was meant to be. He went where he was asked to go. "He was thoughtful and wanted to be of service. Ed loved the people, being with them and serving them. Even after a long day, he would make time to attend a parish event because that's where the people were. But he was also thoughtful in deliberations - he was able to consider every side of an issue. At times you had to wait for his input, but it was worth it." Nancy Engle, Friar Edmund's sister, said the family experienced that thoughtfulness too. "There aren't too many brothers like him," she said. "He was always checking in on us, always supportive. But also, he had friends all over the country. We always said he could travel from coast to coast and have a place to stay. He treated everybody the same, whether it was the president or a pauper." Friar Edmund's pastoral nature was nurtured by his life as a Franciscan. "He knew who he was and encouraged others in their gifts," a Friar said. "He let people be and was not judgmental. He was truly the 'salt of the earth.' If you really want to know what the 'salt of the earth' looks like, there it is." Visitation for Friar Edmund will take place Friday, March 19, 2021 from 4-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at St. Bonaventure Church, 901 East 90th Street, Bloomington, Minnesota.
