Throughout the Bay Area drive-in movie theaters have become one of the few guilt-free socially distanced entertainment options, but until now you'd have to drive to San Jose or Concord for the pleasure of a big screen experience.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that Fort Mason Center is getting in on the cinematic fun, with a 40 by 20 ft screen and the cutting edge projector technology so bright that they claim they'll be able to have screenings in the day.

Naturally, there's a serious emphasis on safety that includes contact-less everything, from check-in to concessions (bathrooms will be open, with hand sanitizer highly encouraged). The official capacity of the screenings hasn't been announced, but space is limited.

Tickets are listed to go on sale today at 12 p.m. PST on the Fort Mason website, scroll to the bottom to see individual showtimes.

Unfortunately, those used to the bargain prices of theaters outside San Francisco may be a bit disappointed by the $49 tickets, but given that they are per car, it's still a fantastic value if you bring a significant other, family members or roommates.

The series runs from September 18 to October 18, and movies include everything from popular children's films like "Frozen" to big budget action flicks like "Mad Max: Fury Road" to cult classics like "Gremlins." See the full list of films at the Fort Mason website.
