Competed for the first time this season at the Cowboy Jamboree (10/3) … Ran to a 33rd-place finish in the 8K on the OSU Cross Country Course in a time of 25:32.6.
2020 INDOOR (Fr.)
Made his indoor debut at the KU-KSU-WSU Triangular (1/18), winning the 3,000 meters in 8:32.96 … Ran a personal best in the mile at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational (2-7-2/8), finishing in 4:16.35 … Ran a 3k personal best at the Iowa State Classic (2/14-2/15), placing eighth in 8:17.54 … Was part of the KU Distance Medley Relay team that placed third at the Big 12 Indoor Championship (2/28-2/29), finishing in 10:02.87 … Also ran the 3,000 meters at the Big 12 Indoor Championship, placing eighth in 8:19.62.

In his first official race as a Jayhawk, was KU’s first finisher at the Pre-National Invitational (10/19), crossing the finish line in 24:14.2 to place 33rd among a field of 257 of some of the best runners in the nation in the Men’s 8K Blue Race … Helped lead the men’s team to a top-20 finish at Pre-Nationals, where they placed 19th out of 38 teams with 532 points … For the second-straight meet, was the Jayhawks’ first runner to cross the finish line at the Big 12 Championship (11/2) … His 8K time of 24:06.0 propelled Gibbens to a 12th-place finish and as one of the top-15 overall runners, he earned a place on the All-Big 12 Team (one of only two freshmen to make the team) … Led the men’s team to a fourth-place finish with 92 points … As one of the top-25 finishers in each race, earned All-Region honors with his 21st-place finish in 31:26.2 at the NCAA Division I Midwest Region Cross Country Championships (11/15) in Stillwater, Oklahoma … Best finish (one of three) for a KU runner at a Regional Meet since 2015 … Collectively, Kansas ran to a third-place team finish at the OSU Cross Country Course, which marked the men’s highest finish at a Regional meet since 2006.
HIGH SCHOOL
Won a combined eight letters in cross country and track & field under the guidance of head coach Pete Doll at Hickman High School in Columbia, Missouri … The Kewpies were the 2018 Sectional Cross Country Champions as well as the 2019 District Champions in track & field … A school record holder in four events: 3,200 meters (9:19), the 4×800-meter relay (7:49), the Distance Medley Relay (10:29) and the Sprint Medley Relay (3:33) … Named the Hickman Athlete of the Year in 2019 … A 2019 member of the Hickman Hall of Fame … A National AP Scholar … The Jerome A. Sally Award recipient.
