Registration Procedures

Important Deadlines

  • Courses can currently be added to Crimson Carts and validated in my.Harvard.  Note that actually submitting your enrollment in GSD courses, via the Crimson Cart, will not begin until January 22.
  • Limited-enrollment lottery will open at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, January 13 via my.Harvard.
  • Please consult the option studio lottery page for information about that process.
  • Course videos can be viewed on the Courses page by clicking on a course's title, assuming the instructor has uploaded one.
  • The limited-enrollment lottery will close at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 21, with results posted in my.Harvard later that evening.
  • As noted, official adding (enrolling) and dropping of courses via your Crimson Cart will open in my.Harvard on Friday, January 22.
  • First full semester and M1 studio option meetings will take place on Friday, January 22.
  • All other classes will begin on Monday, January 25.
  • Students returning from a leave of absence must complete the check-in process in my.Harvard by Monday, January 25 at 11:59 p.m. Students who complete the check-in process after this date will have a $30.00 fee charged to their term bills on a weekly basis until Friday, February 12, at which time they will be withdrawn from the GSD.
  • Final course add/drops for no fee will be due on Monday, February 1, by 11:59 p.m. via my.Harvard.
  • From February 2 through February 12 at 11:59 p.m., students can add and drop any number of courses for a flat $15 charge.
  • Beginning February 13, each course addition, which must be done via pdf submittal (see the Documents Center in my.Harvard), will result in a $30 fee. All fees will be posted on your term bill.  Full-term courses that are dropped, which can be effected via my.Harvard, become withdraws.  When you withdraw from a course, a ‘WD' will appear on your transcript in place of a grade.  All pdf petitions should be emailed to registrar@gsd.harvard.edu
  • Cross-registration instructions and deadlines can be found on the GSD cross-registration page.  Some cross-registration partner schools have early petition deadlines, so please familiarize yourself with them.  If you have any questions regarding registration, please contact the Registrar.  You can petition to enroll in all non-GSD courses via your Crimson Cart in my.Harvard.
