Event Parking

Campus parking lots may be preempted for events, especially home football and men's basketball games, and commencement. Signs will be posted at the entrance to the affected parking lots at least two business days in advance of the event, with the date(s) and time(s) of the restriction. Vehicles will be ticketed, and may be towed, if they remain in the parking lot after the posted restriction begins.

Sporting Events

Football Game Parking

During home football games (see schedule), a specific game permit issued by the Williams Fund is required to park in lots 36, 39, 52, 56, 57, 58, 59, 60, 91, 94, 96, 97, 98 and the Mississippi Street Garage.

Toll parking for those attending the game without Williams Fund permit may be available on a first-come, first-served basis in lots 34, 54 and 61.

All vehicles that do not have a game permit must be removed from these lots and the garages by the time/date listed on temporary signs posted at the entrance of each designated parking lot. Failure to do so will result in a fine and the possible towing of your vehicle.

RV Parking

There is no RV parking near Memorial Stadium. RV parking is allowed only in Lot 90.

Game Day Shuttles

There is a free game shuttle that begins two hours before kick-off and ends one hour after the game finishes. The shuttle has pickup locations outside the Allen Fieldhouse garage and along Sunnyside Avenue by Price Computing Center. There is also a game shuttle that runs from the three parking garages in downtown Lawrence to the stadium and back, during the same hours of operation (two hours before the game to one hour after). There is a small per-person charge to ride, but parking in downtown garages is free for shuttle riders.

Accessible Game Parking

Accessible spaces are available in lots 59 (14 spaces) and 94 (26 spaces) adjacent to Memorial Stadium, and also near the game shuttle in lots 54 (3 spaces) and 72 (13 spaces). There is a parking fee, and spaces are sold on a first come, first served basis.

Men's Basketball Game Parking

*Due to the reduced number of fans allowed into Allen Fieldhouse for the 2020-2021 season, parking near Allen Fieldhouse will be open to park in for free starting 2 hours prior to tip off.  NO SHUTTLE BUSES WILL RUN *

During home men’s basketball games (see schedule), a specific game permit issued by the Williams Fund is required to park in lots 31, 54, 71, 72, 90, 93, 125, 127 and the Allen Fieldhouse Garage.

Public Parking is available for $30 in the Central District Garage on a first come first serve basis. Access the garage from 19th Street and Ousdahl Rd.

All vehicles that do not have a game permit must be removed from these lots and the garages by the time/date listed on temporary signs posted at the entrance of each designated parking lot. Failure to do so will result in a fine and the possible towing of your vehicle.

Game Day Shuttles

Free parking is available in Park & Ride lot 301, with a shuttle that runs to Allen Fieldhouse. Round-trip fare is $3.00. Access to lot 301 is from Clinton Parkway at Crestline Drive, with shuttle service from stop #3 in the east lot.

Accessible Game Parking

Accessible spaces are available in parking lots 54 (6 spaces), 71 (25 spaces), 72 (13 spaces) and the Allen Fieldhouse Garage (8 spaces). There is a parking fee, and these spaces are sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

Additional free accessible spaces are available at Park & Ride (lots 301 and 302) with an accessible shuttle to the Fieldhouse for a small per-person charge.

Parking for Other Purposes During Games

Those who are on campus for academic purposes can park in most parking lots north of Jayhawk Boulevard, or in lot 61 (Sunnyside & Illinois) after 5 p.m. with a valid parking permit. Faculty and staff with valid permits may also park in lots 6, 7, 17, 35, 37, 41 and 129 (see map of game night restrictions).

In addition to these lots, any KU parking permit is valid in the Park & Ride parking lots (301 and 302), and route 41 (Yellow Circulator) buses run until 10:30 p.m. Monday - Thursday and until 7 p.m. Friday, when classes are in session.

For those on campus all day, we recommend choosing a parking lot on the north side of campus in order to avoid the need to move your car before 5:30 p.m. We will honor Yellow Rec Center permits in yellow zones on the north side of campus all day on game days.

Visitors to the university who are not attending the game may park after 5 p.m. in most of the lots north of Jayhawk Boulevard. Please pay close attention to the lot restrictions on the signs.

Bus Routes

Routes 41 (Campus Yellow Circulator) and Route 42 (Campus Blue Circulator) both operate until 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. These routes change to Route 44 (Evening Circulator) which operates along these corridors 5:30-10:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Department Events

KU departments can arrange reserved visitor parking for events. If you are visiting campus to attend a conference or other event, ask your departmental contact about parking arrangements.

Department Event Planners:
In general, we do not close parking lots for events between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. However, if you are planning an event for which you'd like to close a parking lot, please follow these steps:

  1. Get your event approved by the University Events Committee.
  2. Contact KU Parking to discuss lot closure, signage and enforcement.
