Tekne Award – Tech Talent, Corporate Initiative – LeadHerShip1

Thomson Reuters was awarded the Tech Talent, Corporate Initiative Award for LeadHerShip1. Through its decade-long partnership with Leadhership1, Thomson Reuters has increased retention and advancement of its highly talented mid-career women technologists.  The online, virtual curriculum of Leadhership1 created a network of almost 1,000 mid-career women technologists worldwide who support each other’s career advancement through peer mentoring. By preparing more mid-career women for senior leadership positions, younger female technologists have more role models.  The initiative is a win-win for gender diversity and tech talent at Thomson Reuters.

For the thirteenth year in a row, Thomson Reuters Canada Limited has been recognized as one of the Top 100 Employers in Canada by The Globe and Mail.

Best Places to Work, Winner of Extra-Large Companies in North Texas, 2020

Thomson Reuters was announced as the 2020 best Place to Work in North Texas (Extra Large Company). The list of winners was whittled down from several hundred nominees and were chosen to take part in the program that highlights workplaces that are embraced by their employees. Hong Kong LGBT+ Inclusion Awards – Winners, 2019    

Rob Head, the Head of Proposition, Core Law at Thomson Reuters was recognized as the LGBT+ Inclusion Champion of the Year by Community Business in Hong Kong. The LGBT+ Inclusion Champion Award, sponsored by Eversheds Sutherland, recognizes an LGBT+ person who has taken proactive and effective steps to promote an LGBT+ inclusive culture in the workplace and beyond in Hong Kong. 

Rob Head was also named on the the OUTstanding 50 LGBT+ Future Leader Role Model 2019 List. Each person on the list was scored on their impact on LGBT+ inclusion inside and outside the workplace, their business achievements, and the seniority and influence of their role.

The Global Diversity List, 2015-2017

For 2017, Thomson Reuters again was ranked in the Top 10 LGBT Employee Networks for our Pride At Work group. The list recognizes the achievements of employee network groups established to work on lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, and transgender diversity within organisations.

Thomson Reuters retains its status as one of the 100 Best Global Brands in the 2017 Interbrand rankings. Pulitzer Prize, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2020

2020
Reuters photographers Tyrone Siu, Adnan Abidi, Ammar Awad, Anushree Fadnavis, Willy Kurniawan, Leah Millis, Athit Perawongmetha, Thomas Peter, Kai Pfaffenbach, Jorge Silva and Susana Vera won the 2020 Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News Photography for capturing the magnitude of the pro-democracy, anti-government protests that unfolded over many months in Hong Kong last year.

The Reuters team, including James Pomfret, Greg Torode, David Lague, Tom Lasseter, Anne Marie Roantree, Keith Zhai, David Kirton, Farah Master, Clare Jim and Steve Stecklow, were named a finalist in the International Reporting category, for their series of investigations on the revolt of Hong Kong, which posed as the biggest popular challenge to the Chinese Communist Party leadership since the 1989 Tiananmen uprising.

2019
Reuters journalists Wa Lone, Kyaw Soe Oo, and their colleagues were awarded as co-winners, alongside the Associate Press, of the 2019 Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting for their series of investigations on the mass expulsion of the Rohingya from Myanmar. Wa Lone and Kyaw Soe Oo were arrested in the course of their reporting on a massacre of 10 Rohingya men and boys in Inn Din. 

Reuters photographers Mike Blake, Lucy Nicholson, Loren Elliott, Edgard Garrido, Adrees Latif, Goran Tomasevic, Kim Kyung Hoon, Alkis Konstantinidis, Carlos Garcia Rawlins, Carlos Barria, and Ueslei Marcelino were awarded the 2019 Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News Photography for their photos of the mass migration of Central and South Americans towards the U.S. border, and its aftermath. 

2018
Reuters journalists Clare Baldwin, Andrew R.C. Marshall, Manuel Mogato and team were awarded the  2018 Pulitzer Prize in the International Reporting category for their series of investigations that exposed the organization responsible for thousands of deaths: the Philippine police. Awarding the prize to Reuters, the Pulitzer committee recognized the team for “relentless reporting that exposed the brutal killing campaign behind Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte’s war on drugs.”

Adnan Abidi, Mohammad Ponir Hossain, Hannah McKay, Cathal McNaughton, Damir Sagolj, Danish Siddiqui and Soe Zeya Tun were awarded the  2018 Pulitzer Prize in the category of Feature Photography for their coverage of the mass exodus of the Rohingya people to Bangladesh. The Pulitzer judges honored the team “for shocking photographs that exposed the world to the violence Rohingya refugees faced in fleeing Myanmar.”

2016
A team of Reuters photographers were awarded the 2016 Pulitzer Prize in Breaking News Photography for coverage of the refugee crisis in Europe and the Middle East. This is Reuters third Pulitzer Prize win and second in the breaking news photography category.

2014
Reuters journalists also won the 2014 Pulitzer Prize in International Reporting for the series on the oppression of the Muslim Rohingya of Myanmar. In 2008, a Reuters photographer won the prize for Breaking News Photography for a photo of a Japanese videographer, sprawled on the pavement, fatally wounded during a street demonstration in Myanmar. In addition to these wins, Reuters has had five finalists in the past four years.

Accounting Today 2020 Top New Products

Thomson Reuters Checkpoint Edge won a top new products award from Accounting Today, whose top products were selected for their contact with innovation, whether it’s in actual technology or in areas of accounting that have in the past been sidelined.

Tax & Accounting Technology Innovation Award, 2019

Thomson Reuters Checkpoint Edge has won the 2019 Tax & Accounting Technology Innovation Award, which honors new technologies that help accounting firms and their small business clients operate more efficiently and profitably through improved workflow, increased accessibility, or enhanced collaboration.

The National Law Journal Reader Rankings, 2019

Thomson Reuters was awarded the highest accolades in eight categories, including online legal research provider and legal research app, in the eighth annual Best of The National Law Journal Readers Rankings.

Thomson Reuters Westlaw™ took first place in three categories: Online Legal Research Provider; Legal Research Provider, including software as a service, digital and print products; and Legal Research App.

Thomson Reuters Elite® was recognized as the best in providing Law Firm Proposal Automation & Experience Management. Part of the Elite suite, ProLaw® was rated the top Docketing Solution.

British Legal Awards, Supplier of the Year, 2018

Thomson Reuters was named Supplier of the Year at the British Legal Awards, which recognize the contribution that suppliers make to improve the delivery of legal services. Facing a critical deadline for complying with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Automobile Association (AA) looked to Thomson Reuters to rapidly meet its compliance requirements, and the successful project was recognized with the British Legal Award.

The Stevie Awards for Women in Business, 2018

The Stevie Awards for Women in Business are one of the world’s top international business awards and were created in 2002 to generate public recognition of the achievements and positive contributions of organizations and professionals.

  • Transforming Women’s Leadership in the Law won the Gold Stevie Award for Best Website or Blog in the category of Media Developed For/By Women. The program’s websites can be found at tr.com/legalinsights/twll as well as at the Legal Executive Institute.
  • Thomson Reuters Checkpoint Catalyst — a next-generation platform of tax research tools and expert guidance for business transactions — won the Bronze Award for Best New Business Product of the Year. 
  • Anne-Lise Dorry, senior director of Corporate Finance Products, Thomson Reuters, received the Gold Stevie Award for Best Employee of the Year–Business.
