About Us

2019 JayDoc student volunteers with advisor, Dr. Rick Kellerman

The JayDoc Community Clinic, which opened in 2005, partners with Guadalupe Clinic and the KU School of Medicine-Wichita to provide quality care regardless of income. The clinic is directed and operated by medical students, pharmacy students, pre-medical students, and area physicians.

Our Mission
To address barriers to health care access by providing free medical care to the uninsured in Wichita and Sedgwick County, while giving medical and pre-medical students the opportunity to serve the community and gain valuable clinical experience.

Diabetes Initiative
Through a dedicated Diabetes Clinic, the JayDoc Clinic aims to provide focused care that comprehensively addresses the needs of diabetic patients. In partnership with Guadalupe Clinic and the KU School of Pharmacy, we are able to provide medical management, disease education, nutritional counseling, and diabetic supply assistance when needed. Capacities continue to expand, and we now offer in-clinic Hemoglobin A1c testing to further facilitate diabetes care.

Women's Health Initiative
Through the Women's Health Initiative, JayDoc aims to provide comprehensive women's health care for uninsured patients. Currently, these patients are seen on the first Wednesday evening of each month where we provide well woman exams, including pap smears and colposopy when necessary. A colposcope allows the health care provider to magnify the view of the cervix in order to see abnormalities that can't be seen with the naked eye. Pregnancy tests, unrinalysis, and STI testing procedures are also offered. Through the Early Detection Works program, we offer female patients between the ages of 40 and 64 opportunities to reduce chances of death due to breast or cervical cancer through education, screening, and diagnosis. If screening exams detect abnormalities, Early Detection Works covers the cost of diagnostic procedures.
