Audio description is a voiceover that describes what is happening on the screen in TV programmes, using the gaps in dialogue. This helps viewers with visual impairments to follow what is going on. It has been available on BBC iPlayer since August 2009, with approximately 40 hours of audio described programmes from BBC TV available each week.

For a list of audio described programmes that are currently available online, visit the BBC iPlayer Audio Described page. Children's programmes can also be found on the Audio Described CBBC shows and Audio Described CBeebies shows pages.
