Driven by a Desire to
Make a Difference

Driven by a desire to make a difference together, The Royal Foundation is the primary philanthropic and charitable vehicle for The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Our programmes revolve around main themes of work; conservation, early years, mental health, and emergency responders.  In addition to these programmes, as the country responds to COVID-19, The Royal Foundation is working to support frontline workers and ensure that those in need are able to access mental health support.

Helping Preserve The Natural World

The Earthshot Prize – launched by Prince William and The Royal Foundation is the most prestigious global prize for the environment in history. The Prize will incentivise change and help to repair our planet over the next ten years, a critical decade for the Earth.

Alongside this work, some of the world’s most iconic species continue to be killed by criminals, with species poached to extinction. In response to this threat, United for Wildlife agreed on an initial focus on the threat posed by illegal wildlife trade and has pledged to work together to help make a difference.

Building Strong Foundations which Last a Lifetime

The first few years of childhood are more pivotal for development, future health and happiness, than any other single moment of our lifetime. With greater focus on the early years, The Duchess of Cambridge believes we can better provide solid social and emotional platforms for children to make them healthier and more resilient later in life.

Supporting Emergency Responders

We owe an enormous debt of gratitude to our emergency services. The current crisis has shown their personal sacrifice and willingness to put the interests of others above their own. This work was born out of a recognition that, even in normal times, the work of the emergency responder community places tremendous demands on their mental health and wellbeing. Most recently, The Duke and the Foundation convened a new Emergency Services Senior Leaders Board to address mental health.

Changing The Conversation on Mental Health

Mental health matters just as much as our physical health, yet too often it is ignored, misunderstood and neglected. It is one of the biggest public health issues of today, impacting all aspects of society. It is simply wrong that 330,000 people in Britain lose their jobs each year due to mental health, or that one in 10 children has a diagnosable condition. Through campaigning and projects, developed and delivered in partnership with leading charities in the UK, we are working together to change this.
