    Are you bear aware? Several black bears have been seen near popular trails this week . Be aware and keep kids close and never take pets onto park trails. If a bear is close: DON'T RUN away, make lots of noise, give it lots of space.

    The 1st recorded peregrine falcon nest on Alcatraz! 3 months after spotting peregrines mating on the Water Tower, biologists found 2 fledglings testing their wings with their parents nearby. Adult peregrines, among the world's fastest birds, power-dive up to 200 miles per hour!
